Wow!! Amazing weight loss. I was banded by the same doc(I live in Omaha) on the 23rd of April...almost 2 weeks ago. I am 31 and a mother to one 18 month old girl. Great to meet you.

Thanks all for the great greetings.

Being a long term bandster has its ups and downs. It's not easy. I am on a very limited budget and can't afford the fills as I have to pay cash. So I haven't had a fill in I would guess over two years. I had 4 fills total in the first 2 years I think. My weight goes down and up. Most recently lost 22 pounds just watching what I eat. I am a very BIG time emotional/stress eater. And when that cookie goes down easier than a salad, what am I going to turn to? Yea....thats right. The cookie.

Yes I've learned how to eat around the band. My doc thinks multiple fills will help. But, again, can't afford them at $150 dollars a pop...last I knew. Maybe they have gone up? I just go about my daily life and lose a pound here and there. I don't stress on the little things like I did when I was first banded. Alot of my food issues are emotional. So, I can't blame the band for not working. It still bites me back ALOT still after 4 years....but I cause it to.

If anyone has ANY questions for me....let me know in here or via email. I will surely help ya out.

Congrats Pearly on being banded by Dr White. I haven't been to his office is so long, things prolly have changed so much. Keep in touch!

Staci

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
