Any May Realize bandits out there?

Recommended Posts

I got my Realize band on May 27th. Everything went well, except some air got into the band and a week later I had to have the Dr. go in and release it because I couldn't get in my fluids because of I alsways felt full. I have had mininal pain, no gas pains that many people have talked about - I just can't wait to start my pureed foods next Tuesday.

Everyone have a great day!!!

My surgeon decides which band to use according to which he feels fits better when he is "in there". I wound up with a Realize band on 5/28/2008. The post-op was gasey but not very painful. I am still only dealing with head hunger and am fine on 1/2 cup of puree three times a day. As long as I make sure I get the right amount of Protein I feel great.

So how is everyone doing with their realize band? I got mine on May 14. My doc says my band holds 9cc ( I know this has been debated about on this web site). I received a 3cc fill during surgery and received another 3cc on June 17. Still not much restriction but I can tell the band is there if I do not chew well. I go back for another fill July 17. My doc says the rest of my fills will be tiny 0.25-1cc. Where is everyone elce on their fills?

Hi, I was banded on May 2nd, in Mobile, AL. I am doing quite well, no fills yet. I go this Thursday for my first, MAYBE. I have dropped 25 pounds since April 22, the start of my 10 day liquid diet. So, I know there is a possibility that I might not get a fill, and you know, I am ok with that. Even without any fill, I can fill restriction when I over eat. So, I have had a great training time. Continued succes to you and everyone... D'

I was banded 5/5 and I haven't received any fills yet. I got the Realize band. I have called the Dr's to see about getting a fill, but I won't see him until 7/2. I have lost between 30 and 35 lbs. I go up a pound, down a pound. I have been playing with two pounds for over a week. that's why I called to get a fill. I still eat phase I foods (soft foods) and every once in awhile introduce other stuff. I tried bell pepper strips one day but they were hard to chew. Cucumbers are ok, soft steamed cauliflower is good.

I was banded May 9th and had my second fill yesterday. I had 2 cc's put in 2 weeks after surgery. It is very odd because I used to fill full in the upper chest area...then it was if the fullness was back in the lower part of the stomach. Is this normal for people who don't have restriction? Even with the fill yesterday...I don't feel like have restriction. If I eat to fast, I can tell there is something there.

How did I miss this thread? I was banded May 28th and it was the Realize band.

I wish my doc had started with a fill in it....I was due to have my first fill next week but my port incision is slow to heal....I had some psoriasis issues...never knew I had it but surgery brought it out...Lucky me.....anyhoo...

I will most likely not get my first fill July 2nd as planned but hopefully soon there after....:blushing:

Otherwise, I am doing fine...hopeyou all are too!

:blushing: We have the same band day...do you Realize that? LOL

I do not have any restriction anymore but I am trying to be good. This week has been very hard...all in the head...you know, one month out etc....

Keep in touch, Shelley:biggrin2:

Hi,

i was banded on May 20th, and have the Realize band, and yes, it truly does have a 9cc capacity. I went for my 1st fill on June 23, and he put 5.5 cc's in, and here I am, 3 days out and have absolutely NO

restriction. I felt pressure in my throat, while sitting on the table, with the needle still in me, as I gulped Water. But since then, nothing. I read on Wendell's blog that there can be up to a 4 wk delay before you feel restriction. I am scheduled to go back on July 14 for another visit/possible fill. If I don't get some restriction before I go back, then I will get a fill. I have lost about 5 lbs since May 20, but then, I am up and down every day. I don't eat the "no no's" either, drink Atkins shakes, meat, eggs, etc, but nothing much has happened. I started out at 200, and was 186 the day of surgery, and 181 the day of the fill, today, I was 183. I am very frustrated. I'm only 4'11".

anavrin - Hang in there...although my ticker says down 45 I've only lost 10 since surgery....I go up and down.....The other weight I lost at the start of the "process" which is officially Dec. 11th, 2007...

I have had no fill and have no restriction....I know how it feels!

Hi Band sister Shelley! I have had no fills but still fill like there is "something" restricting me so I am riding the wave. I see the surgeon next week and am ambivalent about a fill but will follow his advice. I have lost 30lbs (hope to lose at least 120 more at least) since surgery but the last week I am up and down the same two pounds so it may be time for a fill but I am also willing to wait it out. I got the band for weight loss maintenance so the slow weight loss is OK with me as long as once I lose the weight it does not come back. I am working on learning to tolerate the hunger as I think the majority of it is in my head.

How are you?

i get my first fill today & i am quite excited although very nervous!! wish me luck

:)

Let us know how it goes! Good Luck..:)

Hey Band Sister, I am doing ok...this week has definiteybeen harder could it be because it has beena month so my head is saying....wow..."eat that, it has been a month, you've been so good..."

So, I am trying to make good choices and practice my mindful eating...I have been playing with like 3 pounds too! Down...UP...Down...UP...It is most likely due to Water retention!

Take Care all, Shelley:redface:

I have to wait till July 11 to get my first fill in the realize band. I was banded on May 23. I lost about 10 pounds since surgery but since real food came into play I have just about stayed the same. I have to admit to not really exercising so that's my fault. Barely twice a week to the gym. I keep telling myself get my ass in gear. Good to hear about all the differences in fill quantites reminds me that all people are different.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
