Pain when pressed

Hi to all! I had my lapband for almost 2 yrs now and doing pretty well with weightloss. Here is my problem...Some nights when I lay down in bed on my back and press on my stomach, about where my band would be, I feel like a hard knot that hurts like a bruise or a like when you break a blood vessel in your hand. It's pretty localized and I only feel it at bedtime so far.

My dr. says I'm too compusive about my band and worrying about complications, but I just can't bear the thought of losing it and gaining all my weight back.

Has anyone else out there ever experienced a pain like what I decribed? I know I do worry too much, huh? :confused2:

I don't sleep on my stomach so I don't have that pain, but there is an area called the xyphoid process that people often confuse with the band because of where it's located and its prominence as weight is lost. When you lay on your back, it's the big "bump" kind of where your ribs come together.. the "tail" on the sternum. Is that about where you're hurting? A lot of people don't know it exists, lose weight, see it poking out, and absolutely swear they can see/feel their bands. It's made of softer stuff, so I'd think it would be entirely possible to have it be a pressure point when sleeping on your stomach.

Just one thought...

Thanx for the quick reply...I do sleep on my stomach, but this was when I was on my back. I don't even know what posessed me to press on my stomach, but I did and that's when I felt the pain. It is slightly to the left of center, right over where my stomach should be.

Just below the rib cage. You may be right about feeling something else because there is less fat there now. haha!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
