Where Oh Where have all the Nymphs Been?

Recommended Posts

Hi Bandpal, haven't seen you on for a while. How is your wife?

Where have all the nymphs gone, not much action here for quite some time?

sorry for silence, have been busy and kind of sad. Wife better but still sick, high white blood cell count and Fluid still left in lung are keeping her in hospital. we (me and kids) have just come back from seeing her over the weekend - a 400 km trip each way. I'm beat, will write more later. Thanks for not giving up on me Sades!

You are in my prayers Bandpal. I can feel the the sadness in your email. Do know that this is just a season and that your wife will get stronger. I know things seem bleak right now and difficult with trying to handle everything. Do you have any help? Do you have someone that can assist you with the children? You need to have some downtime for you. I wish I could fly over there to help because I understand how difficult it can be.

Cheer up buddy and know that you are thought of by your November Nymph family.

Cindy

You poor thing Bandpal. Don't feel bad about not responding, I was just concerned. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with your wife. Hang in there, I'm sure she appreciates you and the kids being there for her. Take care and if you need anything just let me know. x

Ditto Bandpal. We're not nagging you, we just get concerned when you are not around. Tell your wife we are all pulling for her. I know you have a string community there in Israel to help you out, and you also have good wishes coming from abroad.

Bandpal,

We're worried about you man. You've been silent too long.

How's your wife? Are you remembering to take care of yourself, too? We are thinking of you....

Dear Friends,

Thank you all for your concern during this past month. My wife is home from the hospital, back at work and recovering quickly, and the kids are getting used to living in a two parent household again.

Although I managed to hold it together foodwise while my wife was in the hospital, things have gotten lax since she's returned. My weight's gone from 94.7 to 96.3 kilo (from 208 - 211 lbs.), and although it's not very much, it's my largest gain since having been banded. I feel as though I've lost the thread a little bit... I'd be grateful to hear from anyone on this.

I've been sick for a couple of days, I think that with things finally getting back to normal around here, I finally let myself crash. But I think I'm coming out of that now. Thanls again for not giving up on me.

Bandpal,

So glad your wife is all better. We were worried. Now get some rest! Don't worry about a couple of pounds. You're doing great and will get back on track.

My sentiments exactly. How could you not be stressed after what you've been through. Take it easy on yourself, those couple of lbs will be gone before you know it. For now it's about nurturing yourself and enjoying the fact that you have your wife back home. Everything will be back to normal soon enough.

Bandpal - a few pounds for all the stress is no biggie! I know it's hard to go from no exercise and being stressed to getting on track again. The first day is the hardest - but then you get into your exercise/diet routine and life is suddenly not that hard again. Take care of yourself!

3 pound gain? Awww ... don't sweat it! I see-saw back and fourth by about 3 pounds on a daily basis. Yesterday my scale said 226, today it said 228. There are so many variables that play into it from dehydration to even the weather, that I'm not going to worry (and neither should you) about such a small variation. Now that the home life is settling back down for you I'm sure those 3 pounds will evaporate right off anyway!

Glad to hear the wife is doing well. Don't stress, it's all good.

ok, now i don't feel so bad that i have hit the wall for the last couple of months. my problem, like others, has been an issue of quality, not quantity. i can usually eat about a cup and a half of food. i can eat almost anything. when i have chicken i put bleu cheese dressing on it to help it go down easier. if i bullet it then it's no problem. bread is ok if i eat very slow and chew real good. the big problem...chocolate never gets stuck. nor Gummy worms.

i am making a renewed effort since sunday to eat better. next week i am having a fill. it's been since march. takes a 3 week wait to get one now. place getting busier.

on a side note, today i had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee to repair torn miniscus. in 2 weeks i am having my left knee done again. had the same thing on left knee 2 1/2 yrs ago. i have no cartilage in my knees. makes it very hard to excercise. even walking is painful. new knees....someday. they wont let me have them now as i am underage. never thought i would be underage for anything at 42, except social security.

Thanks, you guys... I needed that. Today was a good day and I pledge to you that I'm going to end it without eating. Your good common sense and encouragement are amazing! I can do this thing... and as far as bringing the scale down further, I might have to actually consider exercize (it's my dirty little secret that I've lost all my weight so far without any). I want to go in to my doc this week and get a referral for a stress test. Good luck coming back from the surgery, mzterniceguy. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Bandpal,

I am so glad your wife is better. I was worried. I have been playing with the same 4 pounds for a month so I got a fill today. I only got .25 and I think it will be great. I had it done under flouro and everything looked great. You did remarkably well considering the stress you were under.

Take care,

Jill

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
