You can do it, I did it and I survived...although it was very hard. I have a family and I would cook for them and then go and drink my shake (yummy, yummy...not!) I just kept seeing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and it would help me get through.;)

Hello - I was banded a week ago and am still on Opti and might add quite tired of the Opti. I've been on it for the past four weeks.

Don't give up now because you think you'll never have "normal" food again because you will...just know it's in your future. YOu don't need to cram it in as I admit I did a month or so before surgery. I was supposed to lose 30 lbs pre-op and when I got weight in a month before I was up 2 lbs and had to lose 32. My doctor wanted 10% weight loss but do to my overall good health - thankfully no health issues whatsoever - he went ahead. Try freezing the Opti and making it a smoothie sort of treat. That may make it more doable. Good Luck! I had a great recovery and am happy to say am only now getting a small appetite back.

yuck! I can see why you're at the end of your rope with the Optifast.

Go to the grocery store and pick up a few cans of other Protein drinks to see if you like them. Get a couple of cans of chicken and beef broth. A pack of Special K Protein Water to sip on(pink lemon aid is good). I love the Slim Fast Optima French vanilla and Milk chocolate. The Atkins isn't bad either and has more protein in it. If you like Starbucks frappichino, try the Atkins caramel mocha (or something like that) You will love it.

It's only 2 more days! A little variety might help you get through it.

Good luck!!

Jena

Hang in there. And BTW - why is that stuff in your house?

Probably because there are other people in her household that aren't on a liquid diet. I know that's the case in my house.

My hardest part of the day is around 5 to 8 pm too. I found that if I go out to the mall or even just to a freinds to keep myself busy I do fine. I come home around 8 and put the kids to bed and I then I clean up quick and go to bed myself.

Stick to it you will find something that works for you too.

Jet, I'm being banded on the 24th too and yes I must say I am sick of Optifast. It's only 2 more days and you can stand on your head for 2 more days if it meant the results on the other end were great. My surgeon told me the very best thing I can do to help him is stick with the preop diet so my liver is small enough to allow for the room he needs to work. For me that was incentive enough. It is tight in there and I'm dead set on giving him whatever assistance I can by sticking with this until then even though it means going without until then....I completely sympathize with what you are feeling and tasting....When I can't handle the Optifast I do a SF popsicle or SF Jello. When the cravings hit and believe me I have had them, I try to imagine him in surgery struggling because I didn't do my part or the better picture of him sailing through it with ease because I did what he asked as hard as it was.

Hang in there....we can do it!

That is such an inspiring post, I had to quote it so it would be posted twice!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
