I can really "feel" my port!

Recommended Posts

It is like it is just under my skin. It moves around as well, depending on whether I am sitting or standing. My fill was by xray so I thought that must be where the port was but it has moved around by 2-3 inches since then.

Is this normal?

Well Malby, I don't know if it's normal, but I know that when I went in for my first fill my doc was numbing the area around my navel and this second time (17 Apr) it was up closer to the scar and mine also gets tender when I have worked out really hard or do quite a bit of walking. It's weird, because before this 30 pound loss I couldn't tell you or even feel where it was!:blushing: Also this last fill my doc had that syringe in there so well it created a vaccum and when he tried to pull the syringe out it pulled the port up along with my skin and the syringe finally POPPED out of the port! It was really something!

Malby,

Yes. My doctor says it is normal for the port to ove with changing positions. mine is easily felt when standing but goes about one inch below my incision when I lie down for a fill. Weird, isn't it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
