A Few More Pounds Lost

Recommended Posts

I am excited to say that I have lost 16 pounds. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks. I cannot have a fill for another 3 weeks, per my Dr.'s advice. I can eat anything. Is the normal fill after surgery 6 weeks?

There's really no such thing as a normal fill, but most doctors will give you one after 6 weeks if you don't have any complications. I've even heard of people that got them 4 weeks after surgery but 6 sounds about right.

Until I get my fill any suggestions on eating. I am starving. I can eat anything. I have been counting calories and trying so hard to watch what I eat, boy is it hard.

16 pounds gone? Great! A fill should be scheduled when you are eating hard Proteins regularly, following all the banding rules, and not losing weight for an extended period of time. This can vary per individual. We have a bandster that waited 9 months and lost over 60 pounds before her first fill. Some rare bandsters have lost their weight with no fills.

Some food suggestions are Egg/tuna/chicken salad with little lite mayo. Shrimp and fish go down well and are a great source of Protein. Also, spinach and sweet potatoes are good with the protein. Homemade chili made with white meat turket and Beans is great too. good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
