How about you control yourself for once in your life!

You just had surgery! How can you be hungry?!?!?

This is not in the spirit of LapBandTalk....

Canned broth is better than boullion as it has actual Protein grams in it. I continually sipped beef broth mixed with V8 juice. Try to puree some Soup and add more chicken or beef broth, then just a tad of instant potatoes to SLIGHTLY thicken it. Keep drinking fluids.

I was just banded today...and I am having some hunger pains. That's insane! My doctor told me I could have anything that I couldn't chew. I have had some beef broth, Water, and I will be having some Jello and popsicles. I can start having slim fast in a few days. If I am just starving, I may have some apple juice. I have only had very, very little broth. I am going to try to take some more. I am taking it in small quantities, because praying to the porcelian god would hurt A LOT right now...LOL.

Shame on the meanie from earlier in this thread. I think it is wonderful that we are all taking steps to getting healthier. We're only human...aren't we allowed to be hungry?? Anyway, I am going to take some broth and see how I feel. :rolleyes2:

I had my surgery Friday, April 11th and I am hungrey. I am having my liquids as instructed by my doctor but I am hungry. My stomach is growling and the hunger is not all in my head. Help.....

What are you eating?

Protein shakes should curb your physical hunger...although they aren't very fun. I also find sugar free popsicles make me feel like I am eating something since I can chew them. I like chicken broth and it really got me through pre-op diet, but now since i can only drink 1-2 oz...what's the point.

Hang in there. this is the way I look at it...Our docs prescribe this two weeks of hell to give our weight loss a good jump start. AND to make us more appreciative when we actually put something yummy in our mouths (like mushies, etc).

You can do it.

My doc says 3-5 Protein Shakes a day. I do about 2.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
