Need some quotes from some lapbanders for a paper!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I got my lap-band put on a little less than 2 years ago, June 22nd will be my 2 year anniversary! I have lost 90 pounds, and am feeling WONDERFUL.

I am a college junior @ the university of north texas, and am writing a final paper for my journalism class about lap-band. Just ALL about it, and need some quotes from ANYONE who would be willing to just give me a little blurb about their success, their failures, their struggles, how things have changes since surgery.. just ANYTHING, really.

I can be reached @ elizgillette09@yahoo.com and would absolutely love to get some of you guys in my paper! There wouldn't be a better source to talk to than a fellow lap-bander!!

It wouldn't take long, just send me anything I could use and your full name, age and hometown.

Thank you so much! If you have any questions- let me know!! You can also send me a message.

Liz

Hey! Thank you so much for letting me use your blog. I haven't written the story yet, but I am in the process of doing it as we speak. It's due May 2nd. I will need your contact information because my journalism professors require that we keep a list of sources and turn it in with our papers. I'll need your email and a number that you can be reached at, though I doubt my professor will call you.

If you feel uncomfortable posting your information here, please email me @ elizgillette09@yahoo.com

Thank you so much for your help! I did get the chance to look at your blog and your pictures are amazing! I'm so excited for you!

Hi Liz,

I was banded on April 3rd, 2008. I'm not sur ewhat kind of quote you are looking for, but here's my two cents.

The lap band is a tool. It's not a means to and end. Bandsters have to eat right and put blinders on to what the rest of the world is eating. A bandster must destroy the bad eating habbits that they've had the past. The band can be cheated and the momentum can dissapate as plateaus are reached. Faith, perseverence, patience and support are the tools that are most important.

I've lot 38 lbs thus far and am proud of that. However, I have a long way to go. I've found that the band and rapid weight loss have I have sustained has amplified my emotions. Keeping clothes that fit is a bit of a chore and a blessing in that everytime I turn around I'm in a new size. I know that it won't always be this way. When I reach my goal weight, the toughest part will be sustaining it.

Hey! Thank you for getting back to me!! I will need your contact information in order for me to turn in my paper. [your full name, age, hometown, email and a number that you can be reached at] if you don't mind. The story is for my class, and it's my professors policy for us to have a complete list of contacts for our stories.

If you don't feel comfortable giving me the info on here, please don't hesitate to email me at elizgillette09@yahoo.com

I really appreciate you getting back to me so soon! And yes, I def. agree, plateaus can be reached. I hit one for about 4 months and just started losing again after another fill. Very exciting!!

Get back to me!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
