Breakfast ideas please

Recommended Posts

Go for oats - the ones you make yourself. Its filling and healthy. My wife and I have it 3 times a week.

Or go for toast (wholemeal bread). As you can see - simple breaky is our favorite. And the odd accasisonal big Breakfast with eggs and sausages keeps it interesting

I like doing canadian bacon, egg & low-fat provolone, with a half of a very crisp whole-wheat english muffin ... Healthier version of an Egg McMuffin :-)

With a whole large egg, 2 slices of Canadian Bacon, 1 slice Reduced Fat Provolone, 1/2 Whole-Wheat English Muffin, the breakdown is:

234 Calories, 10g Fat, 14g Carb, 22g Protein

With 1 Large Egg White instead of whole egg, + all other ingredients as mentioned, the breakdown is:

176 Calories, 5g Fat, 14g Carb, 19g Protein

Honestly? Seriously? you can eat this stuff??? I'd be running to the bathroom and upchucking everything... English muffin??? I guess the secret to this is to chew, chew, chew a million times over...

Jachut - hey, do you have any good reciepes for Bircher Muslei? I only said it was weird becuase it is hard for me to get past the fact that I am eating cold oatmeal - that is not typically done here in the states.

Anyway, if you make it all the time I would love some of your reciepes. When I search the web, many of the ones I have found come from down under.

Actually, I just posted my favourite yummy Bircher Muesli recipie in the Australian forum a couple of days ago.... I love oatmeal for breakfast, but prefer it cold in Summer. This keeps for 1 month stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

Combine 4 cups of rolled oats, 1 cup wheat germ, 1/4 cup linseeds, 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, 1 cup sultanas (or chopped dried apricots) and 1 cup chopped roasted or slivered almonds.

To make the muesli, soak 1/2 cup of muesli with 1/2 cup low fat milk overnight. In the morning add grated apple and 2 tbsp low fat natural or vanilla yoghurt then fold through.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
