lapband 3 wks ago and starving

Recommended Posts

I certainly don't want to tell anyone to go against their doctors advice, but I went on 'real food' week 2. I had small (chopped up) peices of roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy, regular Soups (not creamed), etc. it was like heaven after 4 weeks (2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op) of Protein Shakes, Jello, and pudding. Small amounts (about 2 - 3 oz at a time) and chew, chew, chew. with short 30-60 second waits between bites.

It worked for me, but like the car ad's say "your mileage may vary"

I'm not saying to follow in my footsteps, but I just wanted to say that I ate real food earlier than I should have and lived to tell - no complications. I was on regular food after about 2 1/2 weeks - I was eating thin crust pizza, noodles, little bites of chicken nuggets, prawns, waffles.... pretty much anything. I'm now 3 1/2 post-op, and last night I had my typical "TOTM" meal - ordered pizza, wings, breaded shrimp, and diet pepsi (I always love how I order diet pop with my artery-clogging meals...) and ate til I was full, waited til there was room again, and had more.

I'm not happy about this, but I've lived to tell... (This was the whole reason I got the band - I can eat for an army! But i digress....) I feel totally fine, other than the mental head games I'm playing in my head for eating what I shouldn't have.

I have had some really great and filling Protein foods. Keeping me more full. I did cook these myself so I could control the ingredients. I made meatballs and sauce. If you add 1/2 cup of Water the meatballs come out very moist. Easy to smash, very filling. I also made a turkey burger. I coated the pan with pam and a little grape seed oil. If it starts to stick you can add a little chicken broth. When it was done I put some terriaki on it and again easy to smash and filling.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
