Do my EYES look skinnier? *BLINK BLINK*

Recommended Posts

I have never read anything like this on here before.... so I thought I would share something new I learned...

Last Monday, I "LOST" my glasses at work... but I could not get an appointment with my optometrist until Saturday because the drive is too far for a weekday.

I needed to get a new exam anyway because my glasses had seemed a bit "blurry" lately, and I thought maybe my prescription needed an update because I am getting older.

When I got home, I decided to try to suffer through the week wearing a pair of my daughter's glasses. I mostly use my glasses to drive, and I although I do not have a long drive to work each day, I DEFINITELY need them to see further than 3 feet in front of me.

Well, when I put her glasses on, I realized that I could see better out of hers than I could mine... so the week was not going to be so difficult.

Anyway, for the news.... my Dr said that the reason MY glasses seemed blurry to me was because they were TOO STRONG for my eyes.

My eyes have actually improved 20% (which he said is A LOT) since my Lapband in November.

When I asked him WHY, he explained to me that we have fat EVERYWHERE in our bodies... even behind our eyeballs. And that excess weight can affect our vision.

I guess I have lost weight behind my eyeballs...

Haha.. Quasi.. Love the headline to this thread.. It's amazing the things you would never think of were affected by being overweight huh? I'm certain I'll drop a shoe size before anything else.. haha.. Good luck.. and congrats on the skinny eyes!

That is so cool!!

I had wondered if being fat affected my eyesight too. I got lasik when I was about 240 and got up to almost 300.. I worried about that, but luckily no changes. I just can't wait until my wrist goes down a little bit. There's this watch I got for xmas two years ago and it's always been too tight. lol. Congrats on the better eyesight!!

Fat behind the eyeball? I've never heard of such a thing, but I'll lose it anywhere - eyeballs, feet, earlobe - it is all 'free' for the taking!

I must check this out when I go for my long overdue eye exam in another couple of months.

Thanks for the post.

Oh GEES...I hope that doesn't happen to me. I got Lapband in November and then Lasik in January. *yikes* LOL

That's great news for you, though! How cool is that??

My eyes have improved over the years to the point that I'm now 20/20. Does that mean that now that I'm losing weight, they're going to get WORSE? lol

Interesting... maybe when I'm skinny I wont need contacts anymore haha that'd be awesome. Time will tell I guess. hehe.

Grats on your skinny eyeballs!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
