Anyone Else Just Start Mushie Stage?

Recommended Posts

Was banded 3/25 - started mushies today - did not slip up on liquid stage at all - for mushie stage - my doctor has me eating 1 oz of mushies - 3x a day - with liquids and Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes in between - was RAVENOUSLY hungry today:eek: Also returned to work today - wondering if that has something to do with it too!

Definitely ate more than 1 oz of mushies for dinner - just so hungry:frown: Anyone else going through the same right now? Happy to have found these boards!!!

Stomach is also KILLING me today - basically have a sedentary job but was moving around a lot...

Having a hard time with mushies. Went back to liquids. I find I am less hungry with the liquids and feel more in control. My surgery date was 3/24. Started mushies last Friday.

Good luck to you!

Christine

I will start my mushies on Saturday. I am really tired of the liquids. My doctor allows us to have soft foods such as meatloaf, meat balls, soft green veggies on the next phase/mushies...Is that what you all are allowed. I certainly don't want to over do it. Will start exercising next week. Gang hand in there. We are doing this together!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!!! Hugs to everyone - we can do this!! From reading other responses and looking at other threads, seems like my doctor's office is pretty conservative in terms of what we can eat for mushies...

I was much less hungry on liquids also - but I guess that the natural progression of my appetite coming back is making the mushies not do much for me...

Found out this morning - my first fill is April 30th!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
