I have the AP large and just got my second fill of 2 cc's today making it a total of 4 cc's in the band. Does anyone know how much the band that I have holds and what the average amount of Fluid people need before hitting that "sweet spot"? Was also wondering whether I should feel the restriction immediately for the next couple of days on full liquids or whether I only feel it when switching to solids?:frown:

My doctor says the AP Large can hold up to 14 cc's. This is the band that I have and I currently have 6.5 cc's in. Yesterday I had my third fill of 8 cc's and ended up not being able to get anything down. So, today I'm back at 6.5 cc's and we'll try for 7 or 7.5 tomorrow.

I just had my third fill that took me from 5.5 to 6.5 cc. At 5.5 I could eat almost anything. Now at 6.5 I have really good restriction. Makes me really watch what I eat and how fast. I think another .5 or so and I will be at my sweetspot. I can still eat more that I want. Maybe 3/4 to a cup, but have to eat slow and small bites.

wow. i have the 14 cc AP band and I had my third fill today. my surgeon won't tell me exactly how much he puts in but he did tell me today that is it under 3 cc's. i had my surgery 11-30-2007 and i have lost 33 pounds. i felt terrific restriction with my 2nd fill. it was awesome. i just went back today for another fill , six weeks later and he said he would do a little adjustment. i love my band and I am so pleased that i had the surgery.

i have a band that holds 10cc's and i just got a fill yesterday of 3cc's----I feel terrific....the first time I ate too fast and I felt it----I can eat anything but in small portions and feel satisfied. I feel great, now I just have to step up the xrcise and i am smooth sailing. I can't wait to see the results on the scale next time I go in.

Fireman,

me and him have discussed it and after i was done, "telling him right" as you call it, he told me how much he put in my band after my first fill. we discussed it again at my second fill and i agreed with him that i didn't want to know. he explained that he didn't want me fixed on how much was in my band and to become obsessed with it. anywho, that is not what this thread is about but if i didn't trust him and didn't agree with his way of doing things, i would and could easily find another surgeon to take over my after care. he has my respect and he is looking out of my best interest. you don't go off on people who are cheering you on and offering you support. you talk to them like a normal person, straight forward and if you don't agree with them, you are still straight forward with them and you move on. just like i am....moving on from this discussion........hope I told you "right"

I'm sure if she pressed him he would say how much. But as for Doctors not saying how much they put in? Maybe thats so patients will tell them how they are eating and what they feel rather then trying to tell the doctor how many cc's they "should" put in.

Like in my job. I am a network administrator. And my biggest pet peeve is when someone calls and tells me what they want me to come and do to fix their problem rather then explaining WHAT their problem is and letting me decide (the expert) how to deal with it.

I have the AP small-10ccs and had my first fill yesterday 4ccs, I have restriction. I have put myself back on liquids. Fill full and don't really feel like eating anything solid right now. Tried to eat a scrammbled egg and couldn't. Anyone felt this way on their first fill.

Just to follow up on my last response...I went in yesterday and I'm now up to 7.5 cc in my 14 cc band. I feel great. There is definitely restriction, but I can swallow. I feel much more in control of what I'm eating. Also, no hunger pains! Yae!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
