April Running-Weight Totals!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys/gals!

No difference here. I just wanted to share my recent adventure in the Lap Band world! I'll get right to the point. I went for my second fill today because I'm STILL hungry and still not losing! Sick of it. Anyway...when he drew back the syringe, there was NOTHING in the band!!!! The whole entire first fill wasn't there! (1 cc worth). Arrgghh! He said of course that explained why I didn't feel any different! So I got 1.25 cc today. He didn't want to give me too much since this is technically my 'first fill' now. I'm frustrated.

I am hoping this will make a difference. If not, I'm going to ask that we look at the band under flouro. Just in case something is wrong with the band or the tubing. I'm worried, but remaining hopeful.

Maybe next time I post in here it will be because I've lost some weight!!!!

Well, at least you know WHY it's been so hard, and why you've been so hungry. And it SHOULD get easier now, at least for a few weeks!

Right now I feel like I could eat everything and anything...still have to wait fo my second fill in 10 days...

Hopefully this week will be a fun week of stepping on the scale and being happily surprised! :-)

Confused.......why wouldn't the fill be there? Did it leak out? Never went in? I have my first fill on 6/10 and am curious what to look for.... so many here say the first fill doesn't make any difference and I would find that a little disappointing.........

When the doctor drew the syringe back, he should have gotten back the 1 cc fill he gave me almost 2 weeks ago. There was nothing there but an empty syringe!

He doesn't know where it went. We are hoping that he just missed the first time. Otherwise, it would mean that I have a leak. That would be bad. Very bad.

I don't know my limits. I am afraid to 'try' it out. I don't want to PB, and I certainly don't want to stretch anyting. I am worried about this. I had a shake last night for dinner and one for Breakfast so I didn't eat any real food until lunch. I took it easy, but again, I am scared to find out if it worked or not!

Oh, and yes, so many people say that you don't notice anything with the first fill, so I was disappointed too. I wanted to feel something right away. I am sure that I will need another since technically, this is my first fill now. Ugh.

I'm with you there. We were banded on the same day. I'm know all the little kinks still post-op will eventually work out and I'm looking forward to my first fill next week.

OY, poor Turler. Where were you banded? I feel so bad for you. What frustration!

The upper portion (the part above the band) gets stretched if we eat too much or too quickly. It's important that we eat the amounts the doctor tells us to. It can happen gradually over time or it can happen quickly at one particular meal. Either way...you don't want it to happen! If you were to stretch it, the doctor would need to see it on an x-ray (fluoro), determine the severity and how to treat it. Some can be treated by unfilling the band and letting everything relax and heal. Worst case is the band would need to be removed.

So no stretching! The more you eat, PB, gulp Water, etc. all contribute to it happening.

Disclaimer: I could be wrong about this, but this is how I understand it and was told by my doctor.

On a positive note: I think I have restriction!!! He must have just missed last time. I hope I hope I hope I hope...I am feeling full much faster and can't drink as much Fluid at one time either. I am hopeful.

Thank you all for listening to me whine!!!!

Honey, you can whine to me anytime. All I seem to do on here is whining. It's my whining site. So, I'm here for you anytime.

I'll tell you something I find interesting. I haven't had a fill- first is next week, but I simply can't eat beyond a certain point. And I'm not that hungry. When I become hungry, just a little takes the edge off and very full happens very quickly. I can't even take in too much Water at a time. This is amazing to me. I had a normal dinner tonight and could not finish.......now, if the scale would just cooperate.

I am so happy to hear that you're beginning to feel it and that all appears to be okay with you. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you gdf18! You are so sweet!

This is where I whine the most. Isn't that awful?! I suppose it's because this is where we all can just be who we are. We already know that everyone here understands what's happening, so I think I like having a sounding board. You can whine to me too if you need to!

I think it's awesome that you are able to control your eating so good. Before my first fill I certainly couldn't eat like I did before the band, but I could eat much more than the 1/2 cup my dietician said I should. Plus being hungry all the time really sucks. Does your doctor tell you how much you get with your fills? Mine wants his patients to because he feels that if anything happens to him, or we are out of town and need help, we can be be informed. I totally agree with that.

I am noticing that I am feeling tightness. Something is different this time. I don't know what to compare to. Before I felt like a normal person, the last few days, it feels like there is something in there (inside my chest) now. Not painful, just aware when I eat. I'm sure that if I did get the fill this time, that there is swelling which is contributing to the restriction I feel. I will keep close tabs on this so that I can get another fill when this feeling goes away.

Okay, sorry I keep rambling. I love you all!

I think you're right on about the freedom we have here. I never thought of support groups, but when I was on South Beach Diet, I went on theirs and there was an amazing group of women on that one. And boy did everyone let their hair down- because food is not just the program, it was all the stuff that led to eating. And we posted our weight! That was a first for me. Unfortunately, some things went wrong on it and a ton of people left (being weight it was very emotional). But I made three friends that I email with everyday and the four of us are very tight- I'm the lapband guinea pig at the moment. And it's so apart from the rest of our lives that we spill everything. I mean stuff we'd never tell anyone! Very safe.

So, I love support boards. And like you, I love that I can whine. And on top of that, we can't call the doctor's office every 5 minutes about everything. I came here constantly after the surgery to see if others had the same stuff happening as I did. It's very reassuring when we're not alone. Who better to understand what we're going through than us?

Anyway, I've got my own whining. My stomach is out of whack again, hemmoroid is bothering me, and diahrea again. I am breaking my docs rule and went back to my stomach meds- I can't crush, but I cut into very small pieces. And I've got to find a way to go back to Metamucil. I tried his preferred Benefiber, but it's not as good. Just have to figure it out. It's my only real issue. Keeps me from feeling GOOD.

See, my whining.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
