I was just banded on 4/15/08. I am doing well. Some pain and some crying fits like- what the heck did I do? But I'm done with my pity party and ready to get on with things. I gained 10lbs just from having the surgery. Doc said that it was from all the iv fluids and that it was normal. anyone else have that happen. I am thankful to say the added weight officially left today and I'm down 3 pounds since pre-op. Nice to say goodbye to the numbers once and for all!! I am shocked to have not three but fours weeks of liquids.I guess its from the repair of my hyatel hernia. I would love to chew on something!!! Sounds like everyone is doing well. I am so thankful to have found this site to "talk" to others in the same boat. Take care and keep LOSIN.-Mariah

Welcome Nortone! The April Fools Avengers are a great group!!!!

15# is great!! My weight loss includes my preop diet, but I'm also 15# from day of surgery. So we're both doing great and staying right on track. I know it's hard to be on the full liquids for so long, but looking back this will seem like such a short time in our lives.

I'm also a L&D nurse in Louisiana. Just went back to work past Saturday. THankfully only did 3 triages and 1 admit, so I had time to get back in the swing of things (ha ha).I'm working hard on my NP degree and will graduate in October (whoo hoo!!)

Be sure to keep us all posted on how great you're doing! I have found sooo much info from all the great bandsters here, and really feel supported!

Well, this week was my first week back on the road and eating in restaurants all week. I guess the fact that I did not gain any weight back is a good sign. I definitly hindered my weight loss by drinking wine all week. I had someone travelling with me this time for a sales blitz and that usually involves consuming more wine than I normally would. The food part was pretty easy. I'm definitly ready for my first fill. I need to call the Dr.'s office on Monday and get it scheduled.

I hope all you fellow April Fool's day bandsters are doing well.

Cheers!

Hello April Fool's Avengers!!

I had my first fill today. It went really well. I arrived at the surgical center around 10am was taken to a room around 1015. The same NP that sees me for my regular appointments does the fills, so I was happy to see her! They had me lay down on a bed and felt around on my port side and cleaned my site really well with alcohol and betadine. The NP put her fingers on either side of where she felt the port. A quick xray confirmed she was in the right spot, then she inserted the needle between her fingers. It didn't hurt like I thought it would (Just like someone pinching you with their finger nails). I felt a little pressure as she pushed the needle through the port then she injected the saline and the needle came out quickly. I have a 10cc band and she injected 3cc. I sipped a little Water without problems, and was back on the road by 1035! Quick and simple!!! I've had some unsweet tea and cream of chicken Soup without any problems. My first 3 months of fills were included in my surgical fee, so she said to come back when I notice that I'm eating more than 1 1/2 cups of food or not staying full for at least 4 hours after eating. I hope everyone else had a great experience like mine!!

Hey mamakat..I am so glad it went so well for you...my surgeon is SO conservative and doesn't do fills until 6weeks postop..so May 12th is my day..I started on solids today!!! eggs w/veggies and cheese never tasted so good!! I feel I have a little restriction w/o a fill...it takes less than it used to to feel satisified (but then again I haven't eaten solids in almost a month)...

I had a busy labor pt today...Honestly, I am still sore between my port site and belly button...moving isn't painful..just when I flex at the hip and lean forward..like sitting up and driving..rolling over in bed..I pulls

and it hurts...like a painful pulling/burning sensation..I feel it many time throughout the day...my doc says some people have this..

I am wondering how much longer...do you gals have anything like this???

Mama..in a couple of years I want to work on my NP too!!!

I hope all is well April 1st gals...hugs to you all!!!!

We are getting there!!!!!

Hey gals! Had my second fill today. I had only lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks, but at least it's down and not up. Especially since I was BAD over mother's day weekend! I now have 5cc in a 10cc band. I had very little restriction with the 3cc from last fill. I work out 1 hour 3-4 days a week, so I'm staying active and I can tell the inches are melting. I hope with 5cc I won't be so hungry all the time. How's everyone else out there?

I haven't loss more weight, thankfully I haven't gained any either..

Do you notice a difference yet w/the second fill mamakat????

My first fill I only had restriction for about 3 days then it was wide open! I told the NP the only reason I didn't gain weight was because I was working out. I didn't eat bad, just "normal". I took a few bites of anything if I wanted it and relied on willpower for the rest.

I've been on full liquids for 24 hours after the 2nd fill. I had potato Soup for lunch yesterday around noon and wasn't hungry until 8pm when I had a CIB. I work nights so about 2am I ate 1/2 cup mushed up baked Beans. I didn't feel hungry which was great! I only ate because my head hurt from cutting back so drasctically on calories that suddenly. I'll ty out a Protein tonight and let you know how it goes. So far I think this one will be much better....

Can someone give me some pointers on getting the ticker to show up on your signature? I have the ticker ready but everytime I try to add it, it reads "invalid file" - what am I doing wrong?

The day I got under 300# was so wonderful. I called all my friends to share it with them! At that point how much I weighed and keeping it secret really didn't matter anymore. I know I'll never see that number on the scales again and it's a great feeling!

I tried out a Protein for supper....mashed up a boiled egg with a little mayo and cajun seasoning. It was just enough. Then had 2 mini chocolate chip Cookies with the kids tonight. So far the restriction is great! It's so different from the last fill. Now I hope the scales start moving again. It was hard to go through my first plateau.

Keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
