Hi everyone. My name is Tahleah. I haven't had lap band nor am i planning to. But I am on Optifast! My mother recently had lap band and she was the one who introduced me to Optifast, and so i'm on 3 Meal Replacements a day! (well only on a good day) Since being on Optifast I've lost 9 kilo's! thats in 3 weeks!!!

So i joined to meet other people which were also on optifast so that i could have that extra boost on days when i feel as if i need to eat BAD FOOD!

Congrats on your weight loss - This is a band related site and most banders do optifast as a pre-band diet - but after that we eat regular food - you might want to google Optifast and see if they have a support thread - I think they do - Most of us post in threads for the month we were banded and maybe an age one too -

Good luck on your Quest to be healthy

Good for You!!!

I know you mother is proud of you.

Keep it up! I'm having the Lap Band and my daughter who is almost 30 struggles with her weight. So Far she is managing on her own and I'm so glad for her and proud of her. Optifast==I don't know about it. Is it a Protein Drink? it must be. The Best to Mom...

Yep I've searched it up, theres nothing like it yet.

Well my mother had lap band, and she's been banded for about a month now, and during that month i was her maid. So i've been with her every step of the way

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
