Excercise paying off with weightloss

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed if the weeks you excercise, that you are losing more weight than the weeks you dont? Can someone motivate me with examples that they know this to be a true fact. My doctor says the most weight you lose is with what you are not eating not the excercise, but others says differently.

i think it is a combination of what you eat and how much you move.

when i was REALLY losing, (10-15+ pounds a month) i was properly restricted, eating what i should AND i was working my tail off at the gym.

we're talking serious cardio 7-10 times a week (2 times a day a few days with rarely a day off).

now that i am tucked, i plan on going back to that schedule as soon as my plastic surgeon clears me to intense exercise.

you just gotta do it. there's no whining, no 'i dont want to', you just get up and do it. i changed my routine. instead of crawling out of bed at 615 and getting ready for work, i got up at 4 (gradually got up earlier - 600, then 545, etc.... i didnt just start getting up at 4).

i found i was almost addicted to the endorphine rush of the exercise. i still love it and need to get back into the swing of things....

we can do it.

I believe that my loss really have to do with working out. yeah I am sure that I would be losing without the working out but not as much. I dont thing working out can hurt with weight loss. Find something that you enjoy doing and roll with it. For me I enjoy the class that most gyms offer so thats why I joined an all female gym - to me women are the ones that take the most classes so at the gym I go to they offer losts of cardio and toning classes.

My doctor told me that when you are eating normal (or excessive, as I do) amounts of calories, it's almost impossible to exercise all the extra off and lose weight it you don't change your eating habits. However, once you have the band, and are eating fewer calories, exercise makes a HUGE difference, since you can burn off a much larger proportion of the energy you consume. It made great sense to me.

As important as any weight loss is the way you feel when you start exercising regularly. Your body gets a leaner look (ok it is hard to tell at my weight, but if you can ignore the saggy hanging bottom arms, the top of my arms look great ). With regular exercise you get more enery, more stamina, can breathe better, have better flexibility and balance, just to name a few benefits.

Since I started exercising regularly (at a ladies only gym), I have gradually (since the end of November) built up to where I walk (combination elliptical and treadmill) 5 miles in 75 minutes continuously at least 3 times per week (the other 1-2 days per week I do combo of sprint circuit (think curves) and cardio).

When I first started, I thought 1 mile in 22 minutes was an incredible accomplishment and I was tired at the end. I may not be the fasted person at Spa Lady, but I bet there aren't too many that put in 5 miles at a time

I definitely lose better when I'm doing both than when I'm just eating less. I'm really surprised to hear a doctor not recommending a combination of both. Although I don't know the context -- maybe he meant that just exercising without dropping your caloric intake won't give you as good of weight loss.

Going to schedule 30 to 40 minute walk, either outside or treadmill everyday, because of the treadmill hey can even do more no matter what time, going to try other excercise to, i also have the walker type arm and leg type machine, so here goes will definately make that effort and in turn it gota pay off, or at least make me more toned.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
