I'm losing my port

Recommended Posts

Well as of Saturday, i'll be without a port. I am so discouraged. My doc says that after it heals it can be put back in. I hope that is the case. I have had these stupid problems since november so I am ready to get this resolved. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what was up. I'm leaving tomorrow and back on Tues. Take care

Melissa

Good for you in getting this resolved.

Who's your doc? From your fill status looks like you have a big band, how's your restriction? Are you concidering a slight fill before your port's removed?

46 lbs. in 6 months is great.

Awww Melissa: I am so sorry about this. Who was your doc? Did you report this to Inamed? Or do you have a lapband? I feel for you. I truly do. Sending prayers your way.

Melissa, I'm proof that losing a port isn't the end of the world. Yep, it sucks, but you will probably still have some restriction like I do. Make sure the doctor tucks the extra tube into your abdominal wall. I had problems healing after my first removal because they left the tube too close to the surface. Also, during my first port removal they gave me a fill to hold me over. But I recently found out that's a big mistake. If they fill you then remove your port, you might end up too restricted to drink, and they won't be able to do an adjustment without another surgical procedure. Good luck you you my soon-to-be portless pal. xo

Thanks for your support everyone. This is my second attempt to get this resolved. 2 mo nths ago, my tubing popped out because it was too long. It just never healed from that. My doc was Dr Huacuz at the Molding clinic. Overall I am happy with them. I just think that it has been unfortunate. In the big scheme of things though, my problems aren't as bad as some so for that I am grateful.

Awww darn it -I hate that you have this problem! I hate it when anyone has to go through this crap. But boy you have a very healthy attitude & I think that will carry so very far. I wish you health & healing.

You were banded in TJ right? I assume they are picking up any added cost or have you decided to have your revisions in state?

YOu have done awesome on your weight loss-Two thumbs up!!!!!;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
