I am scheduled to have my band on April 8th. I am allowed 2 carnatiion Instant Breakfasts and I "Lean Cuisine" type meals a day. So far it has been a little hard, but this afternoon I had to go into Wall Mart (needed skim milk) and I had the most awful craving/hunger episode. It lasted for about 20 minutes after I got out of there.

Has anyone else had this problem already a week into the diet? If so what helped you. I had to actually put my Mom's prepared chicken into my trunk because I did not trust myself with it in my car!

J.

Today is day 1 of my 7 day preop diet. I'm on Clear Liquids and a max 2 protien shakes a day. This is going to be hard!! :) I keep thinking about what food I want to eat. Ah Well, I'll manage somehow

Hi, Good for you. I'm one week post op. I was on only opti fast for 2 weeks, I hated it!!!!!!!!! but my surgery was only 12 mins! The Dr said my liver was real small and he didn't have to retract my liver. Quick surgery equals quick recovery. It is worth it

Hi, Yup it was real fast. That is the fastest I have heard of. The two weeks of opti fast was the reason. Shrinks the liver. Opti fast is a prescription Protein Shake The surgery was easy. I had a problem post op, rare but it happens, I couldn't urinate. They put me on a catheter and flow max for 2 days. Being a guy this was the worst part. After the catheter was taken out, recovery was easy. Now I'm a week post op and went to work today, Tummy is a little sore but other than that all is great. I'm down 30 pds since starting! Good luck.

I haven't been but on any pre-diet by my Dr. or anything I am just starting it myself so it wont be so hard when i am told... and I have been doing this since Thursday of last week and I must say your emotions with go every way but up.... lol... no joke.. when your body is use to eating a certin way.. and you don't give it what it needs.. you literaly go thru withdrawls...like a drug addict.... no kidding.. i have never been addicted to any drugs ever... now on the other hand carbs & sugar.. might as well be label'd as drugs because when u don't have it your body craves it.. but today being Monday was a little better.. Not to say that my temper is kind of short with people at work, but i feel its geting better.... def. not a easy thing to do...

Moonshadow-

I start the Optifast Fest next week. I tried the chocolate one today. Let's just say somebody was telling a pretty major white lie when they said it tastes like Yoohoo.:)

I just ordered a few of the DaVinci s/f syrups to see if I could spiff them up since I have to drink the stuff for two weeks straight (three shakes a day with only clear liquids to supplement).

I have both the powder and RTD versions of the Optifast.< /p>

How did you stick it out? Did you drink any of your leftover stuff post surgery? My surgeon said that I can use whatever I have left during my 2w full liquid phase (immediately post surgical).

Thanks!

Hi All:

I'm at work. This hunger is making me super productive as I try to keep my mind off of all the things I normally eat to deal with the stress of work. Before I left home this morning I had my Protein Shake, Jello and chicken broth. I'm going now for more broth. I really could eat the leg of my chair. The worst part is no caffeine ---I am a coffee addict. The doc says I can resume coffee six weeks after surgery. Maybe by then I won't want it and can save the money.

Hello,

This is my first post on this forum. I just love this forum.

Anyways, I get banded on 4/8 and they moved my surgery date up so they started me on my pre op diet only 1 week before surgery. I have to drink 2-3 protien shakes a day (myocel) and they are nasty. Also, I can have 2 small meals consisting of anything green and 6 oz of lean meat (turkey, fish etc). I was having a hard time and just started today as my shake was awful. They gave me a recipie to add frozen fruit to the Protein shake but it doesnt' help as it just makes more to drink. I am thinking about just downing my next one and mixing with Water only. Anyone have any good shake brands that I can switch to?

Good Luck everyone.

Hi Wannabehealthy. Carol from Ohio here. I'm April 8th too!! Day 8 pre-op diet. I think you showed wonderful restraint with the chicken. I am on low Protein, low calorie and it bites. I want some eggs or tuna or chicken. But I can have all the SF liquids and broth I want. Good luck to you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
