Does everyone have problem with band post PG?

Recommended Posts

HI, I'm being banded 4-23-08, and am currentl 275, on a 5"8 frame. We have two wonderfull DD. BUt know we want one more, I was thinking to wait until after the 3rd to get the band, but hell no I'm NOT getting PG at my highest weight! NO WAY! SO....my question is once I get down to a decent weight, I"m shooting for around 200-210, and then possibly trying....seems by the posts that a lot of you have problems, not during the PG's but AFTER. I think I would just die if I lost all that weight, looked and felt better, and then to gain it all back. I never threw up with any of my PG's, just constantly nauseous for three months, but every PG is diff. and I can't say that I wouldn't with the third.

SO is it really common to have problems after? Maybe it being PG ahifts your anatomy some? Like pushes things up and around for 9 months, and thats what can causes problems after? IDK, I"m kinda freaking out, I want one more but I have to be here in the long run for the two I already have KWIM? Can anyone shed some light here?

i feel the same way. i have 1 daughter and my husband wants more. i was banded in november 07. i feel like i should be able to have some input since its my body. i dont think i am going to risk it. yes more kids would be nice. but i paid 14,000.00 for this surgery(out of my own pocket) and i dont want to blow it by getting pregnant. ya know. you do whats best for you. i think i might stick with being happy with the 1

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
