I got the call today that I will be banded on May 12th. Not sure what to expect but this could not be coming at a better time. Now if I can just get through this Boston trip I have to go on. I weight about 289 and I am 5'9. Has anyone flown on Air Tran that is around my size lately? Did the seat belt fit? I am so scared about that. My husband is great and has said we will just hold it in place if it doesn't fit. I do not want to ask for a extender. So for now all I can think about is am I too big for the plane?

well I have never flown air tran before i have flown southwest before and i did not have to have a band extender it was ok and i am hip heavy... just make sure that you can get a seat away from the window.. you want a seat right off the asile.. if im spelling it correct and you should be fine.. but once the plane takes off and u all are stable u can take it off...

Thank you for you reply. I will be sitting on aisle so hopefully that will be ok.....Just can't wait to get banded so I don't have to worry about this anymore.

I haven't flown on this airline but you can quietly ask for a seatbelt extender when you first board the plane and there should be a stewardess right there. I know exactly how you are feeling but look at it as it will be your last time ever having to ask for one plus it is against the law to not have a fastened seatbelt and is probably something your don't want to risk. Hold your head high and remember you are a wonderful person because of who you are. Your weight doesn't make you a bad person, but that's junk that society has put into your head.

Thank you so much for the good wishes and the reply. I think I will ask for the extender even though I think I will be scared worse the standing in front of a room full of people and giving a speech. Just can't wait to get banded....I know my time will come...again thanks for the kind words and good wishes it means a lot!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
