Hey all,

I'm 8 days post-op, and ive been told by the dietitian that i need to be drinking about 2 litres of Water and 1 litre of 'nourishing fluids' (soups and whatnot) but i am really really stuggling to get through it all?

I'm just not hungry at all. I eat because i have to, because recently ive been really really tired and weak, but im worried that if im not hungry that im just streching my pouch, and im petrified of doing something wrong.

Did anyone else have this post-op? Does it go away?

Hello

I was also banded on 3/17/08 yes it will pass. But I eat shake with Protein and Water for Breakfast, yogart and Water, snack then more fruit 2o then Soup for lunch with water then dinner more Soup and something to drink. This is less than 500 cals a day, but like you I sometimes make myself eat it just to say I am eating. I am having problem eating more Protein, but try to sip the water during the day and see if that will help. Best!

Yeah I'm much the same. Not eating (Drinking) much at all. Have started having Optifast for Breakfast again. But I'm usually not hungry for ages after. I will sometimes have a little bit of Soup and some jelly or juice. I'm pretty lethargic so going to start with the berocca once a day too.

Emma, this 'not hungry' stage will pass. It took me about three weeks to feel even slightly hungry again and about 4 until I had the urge to have a chocolate (my favourite food!). I found that the two weeks after surgery were the hardest, I didn't drink the amounts I should have, not even water! Don't worry too much. You will survive.

Now 5 weeks post band and I am famished. It has caught up on me but I would rather not feeling hungry as everything (even tomatoes which I don't eat) look apetising. I have 2 weeks until my fill and I can't wait.

I hope you recovery goes well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
