protein drinks 6mnths down the line

Recommended Posts

Personally I am not a morning person whatsoever and will stay in bed for as long as possible which means me making Breakfast is not going to happen on work days. So during the week I take a Protein shake for Breakfast everyday - it's a good way to ensure I'm getting my Protein and at least it means I'm eating something decent in the morning otherwise it would be like a thing of yogurt and might as well have the Protein Shake.< /p>

I understand where they come from about saying its preferable to eat solid Proteins first before having something like a shake as it will keep you fuller longer but I think it all depends on your lifestyle as well. Getting up early to make eggs or whatever for me will just never happen so I deal with the shake in the morning and don't eat until lunch time and normally I don't start to feel hungry until after 11am but hold off on eating lunch until noon or so.

because there i never have time in the mornings to make breakfast, i have to have a Protein Shake. also, my meals are on a schedule. i never have been before (my life is just too busy for that). but now, if i sleep in on the weekends, by the time i get up, i am lightheaded and dizzy. i have to have that Protein shake in the morning before 9 or i'm useless for most of day, just feel too weak. the other meals arent as bad, but i have to have them within about 30 minutes of thier respective times or i will begin to not feel so great

If you're really lacking energy then Protein isnt the answer, you need some carbs. Your body needs a balance of nutrients, not going crazy on one nutrient, and replacing a balanced meal containing Protein, carbs and good fats with a protein shake is not the way to feel more energetic. shakes are really great for a snack, and if you cant otherwise eat breakfast, but you're far far better off eating real food for the most part and also getting your protein from a variety of natural sources.

But you need carbs to fill your muscles with glycogen and provide fast fuel. I know that to run, I must keep up the wholegrain bread and cereals or I'm flat and listless.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
