I can occasionally eat a piece of crust from a crusty italian or french bread, but that's about it. I can't say anything is out of the norm. As long as you're happy with your results, it's fine.

My doc would say "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" and leave it at that. At some point we have to make good food choices; the band will not stop you from eating things like ice cream and chocolate either.

So if you are still losing weight or maintaining at a weight that you are happy with, then eating the bread isn't a problem. A slice of rye is not an unhealthy food choice, imo. Sounds yummy, actually.

If you aren't losing weight and want to be, you can either choose not to eat bread just like choosing to not eat lots of ice cream, or you can get another fill to make it harder to eat bread.

Will stick to try one piece of bread a day, but healthy bread, and no butter on it. I just thought lap banders could not eat bread it got stuck, but i must admit i chew and chew and chew slowly. Even had a hot cross bun this morning, minus the butter for brekkie.

I can eat bread ok, but just about anything at McDonalds gets stuck. Fries, egg mcmuffin, chicken nuggets... all of it. But I ate a soft dinner roll on Easter with no problems. So, I guess it's pretty individual!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
