I was banded on March 19, 2008, by Dr. Renee Wolff in Portland, Maine. So far mostly good. liquids going down great, started on blended food and that worked, but still in pain and using pain meds 4 days out, which I wasn't expecting. I'm sure that will pass soon.

I look forward to learning from and sharing with everyone here :crying:

Portland is beautifull! I was there last Feb when a friend flew to Maine Medical Center for specialized surgery. She flew from Wisconsin...I came several days later...right in the middle of a Nor-easter!!!!!!!

Love Maine, Snowmobile the county alot, stay in Caribou.

Also had the band on March 19th. No problems, feel good.

Only use the pain med at night, rolling over hurts a bit.

It will get better, have some buising improving.

On the treadmill for 30 minutes, no problems

slow but sure and we will get it done!

Oh no, arriving during a storm doesn't show you the best side of Maine. I hope you have a chance to see how pretty it can be in the summer

Hi There,

I just joined here. I am waiting to be banded by Dr. Wolf. I meet with the dietician Aug 6th. I have been doing the monthly weigh in's with my pcp and working hard at being patient through this process. It is hard to wait. How are things going with you?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
