PS have also my cardiologist testing tomorrow ..The EDG is where they put you to sleep and put a scope done your throat to make sure no hernias or trouble with stomach lining. Do you have to have that done also ?? Ordered stuff for Protein Shakes and have bought baby spoons and slowly preparting for this .. I can't wait and scared at the same time .

Have no idea how long till the surgery but have had my psych eval and ultrasounds etc. Have to have a sleep apnea test and a EDG all those will be done next week .. Then they will submit it again to my insurance and then the two week pre op diet. So maybe we will be having ours at the same time..

Put out one fire at a time and your new journey will all fall into place .

I love this forum it is so helpful ..

Crossing our fingers that this all goes real fast .

I am glad I found this forum last week.

"One fire at a time".....I like that; thanks. It would be great to be on the same timeline as you during our journeys! It finally is starting to feel real. :tongue_smilie:

Hey, we're the same age, too! Congrats to us for not giving up!!

I am trying to start to separate my fluids from my food. That's not too hard for me. The chewing forever is tougher! There is not much that could stop my excitement though. Have a great day!

I just had my done 1 year ago !!! Recovery was alittle tough!!! Walking really helps. The more I walked the better I felt. Ice packs helped. I was off of work for about 1 1/2 weeks.

You can loss more then 1 to 2 lbs. if you watch what you eat!! I have to go back in because my port flipped and it is leaking!!!

I am getting 'banded' this summer, hopefully in June, at UW-Health in Madison. I really like the staff.

I'm not sure what a PORT is but I hope it's a minor problem. Good Luck! Are you still glad that you did it?

Your Port is where they fill your band!! It can be placed in a couple of different places on your body. Mine is on my left side right below my rib cage. I can feel it when I press down. Some people have them on there right side, around the belly button or even below the breast plate. It is where the surgen places it! Find out where yours is going to be. I heard the breast plate area is the most painfull to get your fills done.

How long have you been going through the process?

I started the paperwork in Jan.; was approved on March 5th. I've done my 3 hours of psych testing. Have to meet with a nutritionist a couple of times. 2 weeks before the surgery, I start a sugar-free liquid diet. Possible surgery in June. I thought that's what a port was---makes sense! Thanks for the reply!

Just wait the liquid diet is so fun!!!!!!!! You can do because there is an end to it!!! My husband said don't bother with the surgery if I could just liquid the whole time !!! He is such a joker!! I need real food!!!! I think the hardest thing for me to do was taking the time to eat because My stomach would get weird if the kids and my husband would bother me when I was eating after the surgery. So you really have to take the time to eat!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
