Am I just delusional?

Then you have to go back every 6 months as the biggest gap FOR THE LIFE OF THE BAND INSIDE YOU.

My surgeon's practice recommends a yearly visit after the first two years. Obviously, if you need a fill, you need to come in sooner, but if you don't, then once a year is fine for a check-up.

I haven't been back since December. I think they'd like me to, but since I'm way out of town I fall out of their radar. If I was local, they like a 1 month follow-up until you're at goal. Until I finally got restriction, I was going back every month anyway.. I sent them my labwork Monday from a local clinic, so if something is up they'll let me know.. otherwise I'm not planning to go back until they call me and insist, or I need an adjustment.

And OP it's good to be informed! When I went into this, I educated myself on possible complications.. but I did not read the complications area here. I knew it would freak me out. I'm glad I didn't, because now when I read them I feel like a hypochondriac (You did what? It slipped? I feel that sometimes! Oh no!!). Of course, I did have a complication and the moment they told me I needed another operation, I started crying on the x-ray table. It was the end of the world to me.. I felt like this too was not going to work for me. Ended up being a simple procedure to fix a flipped port, and since that day it's worked wonders on me.. -100lbs(ish).

The best way to look at it, is.. are the complications worth the surgery? If you had a complications, would it be worth it to you.

The scars on the stomach really are minor, and I never even worried about that. Like someone said, I don't show my belly to anyone anyway.

I'll tell you the only good thing about my lap band was that the incisions were very good and clean and I had no problem with healing and they don't look that bad. Not that I'd be wearing a bikini anyway but still it depends on the person and the surgeon. Other than that I personally would rather have the gastric bypass.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
