How soon did you?????

Recommended Posts

Get your second fill after getting your first one? I had my first fill on 3/7, haven't lost a SPECK, not one measly ounce in the past week and I am eating diddly.

I'm not eating over 1200-1400 calories a day and I am trying to exercise.

I want to schedule a fill, but don't know how soon to do it.

Any advice???

Did you get your fill under fluoro? My doctor doesn't use it, so the first fill I got missed the port, I had absolutely NO restriction. How much did the doctor put in? My second fill was the bomb, and I couldn't keep anything down, and I had to go get an unfill. You guessed it, now I'm wide open. It's such a touchy situation to find that "sweet" spot. I'm suppose to go for a regular 3rd fill April 3, but I think I'm gonna have to bump it up or I'm liable to gain everything back, errrrrr.

Oh in answer to your question, my doc makes appts about every 6 weeks, although the folks he bands with the larger band go about every 4 weeks. Good luck!

I think letting several weeks go by between fills is a good idea, since they can change on you and take you by surprise. Most doctors would say give it a month, at least.

MY fill Dr. doesn't use flouro. He uses an ultrasound machine to locate the port and then had me sit up a bit to show me what it looks like when the needle hits the port ( I told him I'm an R.N. so I think he showed me for my own knowledge, and maybe doesn't show everyone).

He said I could come back in two weeks if I feel that my fill wasn't enough, but for the patients he places bands on, he recommends 6 weeks.

he thought that because dry chicken got stuck prior to my fill that I may have had a bit of restriction from the band just being there and so I only got 1.0 cc when he usually starts with 1.5, maybe that's why he told me I could come back in two weeks.

Same here Pati-O. I had a fill (my first) on 2-18 and didn't lose anything. I was so frustrated, so I saw my MD who did another fill yesterday (3-15). I really hope it's tight enough this time. As of now, I am feeling more restriction. Hope it continues. Good luck on your next fill!!

I waited a month after my first fill to get my second fill. I've had two fills in one week just recently. I still haven't hit that "sweet spot" again so I'll probably go back in another 2-3 weeks and give it another try.

Good luck to ya!

Alice, Im one of those that take things slow. I tend to gain and lose restriction for several reasons, so Id rather wait about 6 weeks of no-loss then just base it on a week or 2.

ALot of folks here have said that they will have 3 or 4 weeks of no weight loss - then one day they get on the scale and it shows they lost 4 pounds over night.

It was about 15 weeks between my 2 fills. Total loss of 30ish pounds in that time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
