How long after a fill did you feel restriction?

Recommended Posts

I am 5 weeks out from surgery and had my first fill 2 days ago.

Am I supposed to feel something right away or does it take a while?

Because I am able to eat (mushies) just like I was before (too fast and too much).

Will it happen or do I need another fill?

TIA

Tater

Tater,

Unfortunately sometimes it takes several fills before we feel restriction. In my experience though...a fill usually kicks in for me about a week or two later (not sure why). Hang in there...wait a bit longer and if still no restriction, give the doc a call.

Well the good news is that they are going to do another fill next week. My nurse said something about air in the tubing from surgery that sometimes affects the first fill.

Now I just have to control myself until then. :)

When will I start to recieve fills? I am 2wks post-op...:confused2:

My doc schedules 1st fill at 6 weeks post-op. Your doc did not discuss this with you?

Oh if this was so easy....I wish there was a formula, but it's all random. I'm 5 Months out - just got restriction. Will Power / the Gym / and removing Temptation out of my house is what go me to this point.

Took 6 fills - May need 7, I'll know next wk.....All the best:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
