How much restriction from 1st fill?

Recommended Posts

I guess it's just a matter of time. short periods of restriction, loosing weight, then no restriction and not loosing weight, holding pattern until next fill, at least for a few months. I can live with that, as long as the loosing weight part exhists and I don't get discouraged.

I had surgery on feb.15, 08, and my first fill on April 3. I feel no restriction at all, in fact I am eating large, horrible amounts of food. I called the Dr. and have to wait a month before I get another fill. I feel so helpless. Any suggestions? By the way, he gave me 3 cc's.

I don't think I have much. I haven't really pushed my luck, though.

She said they could take a few days to "settle in", too.

My band must have taken a few days to let the saline "settle in" LOL

After my first fill, 4/3/08 of 1.5 (3 was put in on day of surgery) I really didn't feel a restriction at all until 4/8/08. I had a loss of 6 pounds since my fill have good restriction and I'm very happy with my band.

Surgery Feb 12, first fill March 17 and virtually no restriction after the first couple of days. I've had to hold steady all month and go for my 2nd fill on next friday April 18. I think I have actually lost 2 pounds this month, but I know this is fairly normal. Just keep to the rules, try not to eat huge amounts, eat healthy and stay away from things you aren't supposed to eat. I'm pretty sure I'm open enough to eat bread, rice and Pasta, but I'm not going to chance it. I haven't had it for 2 months, and if I do, I know I will have a hard time breaking the habit. Stay strong as you can.

Carol, I have a suggestion for you. HARASS YOUR DOCTOR AND HIS STAFF UNTIL YOU GET ANOTHER FILL! It's ridiculous for them to make you wait another month if you have zero restriction. Good luck!

Well, I FINALLY received my first fill!

It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Luckily he found my port easily and he only had to try four times. More over, thank goodness he numbed the area first!! It was a bit weird, you can feel the port slipping around in there while he's trying to find that perfect spot to put the needle in. So weird... LOL!

I finally found out out I have a regular (10cc) VG Band. How funny I never thought to ask before having surgery. I guess my mind was always thinking about other things with all my insurance problems I was having. It actually took me almost six months from the time of my last dietician appointment for me to get in the OR.

He filled me with a small 2cc's which we both agreed on since my weight loss has been good so far. He said I'm doing excellent and right on track. I confessed and told him I am no Angel, but I really try most of the time and it's working. It is an added plus with my strict routine of hard cardio exercise and some strength training. He said just to keep up my plan because I have been successful so far.

He did not put me on any kind of restrictive diet post fill, but I still did liquids for over 24 hours and then tried a Lean Cuisine meal and ate very slowly. It was just a meal of about four pieces of white meat chicken and some soupy type of spinach. It tasted so delicious and it also took me two tries to finish it off.

I finally have the satiety I have been wanting. I have not felt much hunger at all since my fill (YEAH!) except yesterday afternoon before I decided to try some solids. Have had none since. I am eating tiny amounts too.

I made my next appointment for May 6th, which he said I can come in a week sooner if I feel I need to. Or later if my fill holds. I mentioned before I am going to go conservative as long as I notice I'm getting full on small meals and I'm steadily losing weight.

Good luck everyone!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
