Hi, everyone! My name is Vicki and I hope to be banded in May 2008. I was on the road to GBS but decided that the LapBand is right for me. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. I have a wonderful, loving and supportive family. They are:

Husband: Craig

Daughter: Ashlie 22

Son-in-Law: Nathan 27

Grandson: Aiden 2 months

Son: Christopher 21

Son: Seth 17

Daughter: Heather 17

BFF: Monica (the best friend, ever)

And we have between us all 8 doggie family members.

I am 39 years old and my health is not too good. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, back and joint pain, and I'm just plane tired of being too big to enjoy my life! I look forward to getting to know you all. Any tips or advice is openly welcome!

Hugs To All!

Hey Vicki!

I'm re-joining the world of the banded - although new to this site, not new to the band :huh2:

My advice is to surrounded yourself with people who support you, and look to yourself for decisions, not anyone else! This is your life and your body, you know what to do!

hugs

kate

I assume you have or will search for a surgeon and attend one of their seminars. Check with your ins. co. about coverage and their requirements and you're on your way!

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Oh, yes! I have a surgeon. I've been attending classes for about 5 months now. I have one more month and then my info can be submitted to the insurance. Thanks for your help, though. Maybe you can tell me how you got your tickers on your posts?

Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
