Struggling with liquid phase

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2/27 and am still on the liquid stage and it's been really getting to me. My doc's orders are a bit more stringent than many others I see in here and his were just Water for the five days after surgery and then Protein Shakes and ice pops for 2 weeks. I still have a week to go on the liquids and it's getting harder and harder not to give in and eat something mushy. I feel great physically and have been on the treadmill for 35 minutes the last two days. Along with pre-op wieght lose and since the surgery I have lost over 40 lbs. which is incredible. I lost 9 pounds in the five days after the surgery which really surprised me.

I want to follow my doctors orders and I know that once I'm past this it will be worth it. It's worth it already!. I guess I'm just looking for some words of encouragement, especially from those who have been where I am and got through it.

Thanks

Wow, I guess your doctor is more stringent, I have never heard of anyone doing only Water for 5 days. It is so important to get your Protein in, I'm glad he is letting you have that. Jello is considered a liquid, along with beef broth and chicken broth. The Jello and popcicles helped me a lot, but then I was only on liquid for 2 weeks. You have 5 days to go, you have made it this far, so maybe you can just handle 5 more days. If not, then I would definately call your doctor and ask if you can do some Soup or something.

Good luck to you!

:cursing:Wow, only Water for 5 days!! That is tough. I know what you are going through. I am in my second week of liquids. I am able to have protien shakes and yogurt this week.

Hang in there. I am scared. Today I was making my son a cake, (I know, why did I do that?) I ate some of the batter. I know that it is liquid, It is just not the kind of liquid I am supposed to be on. I am scared, I hope that I didnt do any damage to the band. I dont know what came over me, I just took a bite then I couldnt stop, I had a couple more bites.

Oh, I am soo mad at my self.

So hand in there. If you feel like you cant go any longer, maybe you should call your Dr. and ask if you can have some mushies.

Good luck,

I was banded the 26th and am back on pretty normal foods. Of, course, I'm not losing any weight because I am eating slightly less than the same as always.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
