Texasfire67 - Glad to hear you were pleased with Dr. Marsden. I really like him too. He used to be an associate in a practice in Lewisville with a surgeon that I had used for my family several times. He has a very good reputation. I am having my surgery in Hurst as well. A bit nervous, but can't wait to begin seeing less of me!

Hello, I am living in Austin, and I was banded a week ago today 2/29/08 by Dr. Gonzales in San Antionio. I did not know what to think, so the day before and the day of, I was just cool. Everyone around me kept asking was I nervous and excited. I told them to not ask me and just let everything happen. It was a very pleasant and I am amazed at how good I feel. The other night I was lying in bed wondering if there was something in there.... i mean the only thing that I feel is the food dropping, I guess that I used the correct terms, it feels like I am about to belch(the pressure). It does not hurt, just a bit strange. I am also sick of the Soup and bored with food, which makes me not want to eat.. I know that is not good, but I am sick of soup, juice. I was going to have the lapband put on in Bedford, but moved to Austin... Just know that this is a very good website and I found it the week of my surgery and it helped so much... Thanks Everyone

Kat, you are really great person, I have been on this forum reading and reading and noticed that you will add comments, if anything to help and ease people's minds and soul. Don't think I'm getting soupy here or nothing, but I just read another entry of yours where you are helping the individual with her ticker, I'm really glad that your on here, you are a big inspiration to this forum, my banding day is March 25, I live in Houston Texas and I get on here in all the different areas and read, I want to be so prepared when it happens, I am single, with no kids at home, and I'm concerned when I get back here at the house, that everything goes right and my only problem will be maybe a little "gas". Thank you for being you, and I'm glad that there is this site available and is full of all types of information.

Hello, from the Houston area, I went to a wl seminar a couple of weeks ago at Memorial Hermann - it's a one stop shopping outfit for wls. I have spent the past 2 wks getting med records transferred to the surgeon - not an easy task. my appt. w/Dr. Ballette is 3/18. All I have to do after that is nutrition & psych consults, then wait for approval.

TexasFire, thanks for solving my "ticker" issue!

Thanks to the rest of you for all your posts, I'll be banded on Thursday, the 3rd and I'm so excited, nervous, can't wait, emotions all over the place but so ready to start this new phase of my life.

I'll keep everyone posted, surely I'll be shouting about it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
