Hey all, I lost 12 pounds before the band on the medifast liquid diet that my doctor put me on 2 weeks before surgery but since I was banded 1 week ago I have not lost anything. According to physicsdiet.com (what I use to track my weight loss) I am still eating a deficient of 1200 calories a day....so why am I not seeing anything  Did anyone else have this problem?

Tarasa - During this time you are not only healing but you're not able to do a lot of things like exercising. Also, from what I understand they pumped about 10 lbs worth of liquids into us and that will fall off of you within the next couple of weeks. Don't be worried about not showing the weight loss this soon after your surgery, it will happen. Watch all the calories in any liquids you drink as they can be really sneaky in pushing up your intake. Also, some drinks like gatoraide have sodium in them. Watch your sodium intake too. It will happen.

Good going on keeping track of your calories. You will need that during the period between the time you get to start solids and the "right" fill. That's what's kept me going while we search for the "sweet spot".

Good luck on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
