Question....

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I received my first fill last week. All week long I could not keep solids down and I kept "sliming" all week. So I went to my dr. and he said that I was "overfilled". So I went back to the hospital and some Fluid was removed from my band. So I am only filled one cc now. I am nervous that I won't lose weight with the fill adjustment. However, I still can't have solids without feeling some pain. Is this normal? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:redface:

Did you immediately start on solids after the unfill? Most surgeons have you stay on full liquids for a period of time after a fill or unfill due to the swelling caused by the fill. Try chewing really, really well and then pause before taking the next bite. I find that if I do that it is much better. If you get that stuck golfball pain, stop eating right away and just sit there and wait for it to go down before taking another bite. I also find that rotating the bites of food helps, too....such as, a bite of chicken, followed by a bite of the veggie, etc.....not just bites of chicken all in a row. Plus I always keep a tad of sauce on my plate for dipping the bites of chicken into so that it is moist. Diet salad dressing works for me and I also like the low cal BBQ Sauce.< /p>

Hope this helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
