Too Soon For PS

Recommended Posts

So I am wondering if it is too soon for me to have PS.

I am one year post op tommorow and have lost 135 pounds so far. I started at 360 and am at about 225. My body fat percentage was measured at 27% recently, but I have lost some weight & gained some muscle mass so I guess that I am at about 25%.

I had a consult with a PS & he told me that I am ready for the surgery. What I need to have done is an abdominoplasty with a large pannus removal, Lipo on my chest and lower back a Gynecomastia (male breast reduction) and some fat injected into my buttocks to fill them out.

The surgeon mentioned that when all was said & done that there would be about 20+ pounds of tissue & fat being removed.

I figure that once that happens my body fat percentage would be around 20%.

I would be looking at having he surgery this summer & I plan on losing some more weight before that time.

Does this seem like a reasonable time frame?

I'll post some picks later so you can get an idea of what things are looking like.

Andrew

Andrew,

im about 250ish right now and am scheduled for a TT with mega Lipo to back and side boobs on the 29th of Feb.

i say, if the surgeon says it's a good time, then go for it!

congrats on losing the 134! thats wonderful!

Congratulations on your accomplishments!

We know that most lap band patients take 2 years to get down to their best weight. Continued loss after surgery will result in loose skin so I do tend to wait a bit longer in this group.

Once a person has reached a healthy and stable weight, they can be candidates for PS.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
