I SWEAR I am doing things right and I am not losing weight...WHAT GIVES?

Recommended Posts

So I was on a plateau for 6 weeks. Then I got a fill and simultaneously got the flu. I dropped 10 or so pounds and then it was back to the plateau. I haven't lost any in 2 weeks. I am getting frustrated again especially because I am SOOOO close to goal I can taste it, but I guess I need to learn patience.

Congratulations on your weightloss hon.....I have been following your progress and I am thrilled for you being so close. Just remember they say the last few pounds are the hardest to take off.....it will happen for you, you have the drive and determination!!

I presented your problem to a close friend of mine who has been banded for 3 years and greatly successfull, lost 135 pds in 10 months. His surgeon has him come to the seminars to talk to people and they send patients who are having problems loosing the weight to him.

His recomendation is to cut the Protein drink before bed and to not eat anything 2 hours before bed. Also, he said you are getting an excess of Protein and could stand to cut that back, best done by cutting the drink.

I would only have a Protein Shake when you weight train, like after. But that's it. I would drop the Protein shake. Don't eat anything 2hrs before bed, if you must have something, have sugar free Jello, if you get hungry.

The other thing is when people have a plateau, you may just have to switch things up. Are you doing the same exercises that you did when you started this? If so then try something different. Switch it up, the body adapts and will refuse to budge. So try this for at least a week and see if that helps. Drop the protein shake before bed, switch to Jello if you like it. Only have a protein shake after weight training. Switch your aerobics to something else, something you haven't tried yet. Gives you a new challenge. And nothing for 2 hrs before bed. If you don't notice a change then, then I would call your dr. and have them do some blood work make sure your thyroid is working like it should. That thyroid can be a touchy thing!

And let us know if that works!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
