is the total amount of fill still in there when your doc adds to it? Just curious as I was one of those who had 2/3 of the fill dissapear the last time. Not real sure how much is left. Scheduled for another on 3/14/05.....if it is warranted.

I use to have the opposite problem. I would start a fill okay, and then it would get tighter as the weeks progressed. My doctor said sometimes the band will get a kink in it which can cause the band to not be exact at fill time.

Usually it seems the tighteness of the band loosens after losing about 15-20 pounds, so, I don't know if that is why you feel less restriction.

Rainykiss: Sometimes to jump start a weightloss again I do a liquid fast for ONE day. Sorta cleanses the system of all the bad stuffs. Of course check with your doc before doing any fast.

You can also change up your exercise routine some. Add minutes or reps. Up the intensity or do a different exercise. Try Pilates, Yoga, etc.

Hope this helps.

My dr explained to me that as you lose weight the band loosens up around your stomach, hence the need for more fill. It could be that your weightloss has done that and you just need another fill.

I was told also that as U lose weight, the fat lost first is in the stomach so the band loosens & restriction is less therefore another fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
