Jill, 4.5cc in a 10cc band is not much restriction at all. As I mentioned previously, I have 6.5cc and I'm still able to eat what I want. I just finished eating a medium sized apple without a problem. I am not as hungry so I can go longer without eating but I can manage to take down quite a bit of food when I do eat. I get stuck sometimes if I eat too fast but really once that's over, I can keep eating. I think 7cc + in a 10cc band would have to be the way to go. I'm booked for my 4th fill on 27 February... hopefully that will be the one.

I was very surprised at the restriction I had/have with only 4.5 cc's. I literally could not get Water down with 5 cc's. I still have pretty good restriction. Some nights I can only eat a couple of bites of chicken and I'm done. I almost PB'd on a fudsicle Saturday night. It was TOM and I was really stressed about work. I am a little nervous to get another fill because eating solids was difficult the 1st week after my last fill. I do not want to live on mushies. I have not PB'd but I am a really good chewer. Maybe I have a big stomach. LOL

We are all so different and the amount of fill for one person doesn't match what someone else needs. I think all the November people are getting closer to a good level for each of us and I think it's about time!

I put my next fill off by an extra week because we are going away for the weekend. right now I know what goes down and I didn't want to worry about trying everything all over again, while I wasn't home.

My current fill level gives me some extra willpower, but I am not satisfied between meals long enough even on very solid food.

I wish I had hit my sweet spot sooner!

Lucky you Jill ... I want that kind of restriction, even for a month or so. I know I sometimes go beyond what my body is telling me but even so I should have enough restriction to help stop that. I'm hoping one more fill should do the trick.

You're right Shortgal, we are all different... I'm just amazed at how different. Looking at our weight to lose, the 3 of us are similar which makes it even more unusual. Enjoy your weekend break.

Sades, You and I are just frustrated with having to rely on willpower. I envy those that have some restriction as well.

I wonder if the fact that jill has the omniopaque type solution in her band makes a difference, while we just have saline???

I am doing all liquids today. I am sticking to my "diet" but the scale is not moving, so that's when I do a liquid day.

Went clothes shopping today... didn't go well. At my height, I need petites and they only go up to size 16, which is smaller than a plus size 16, so I figure I have about 12 to 15 pounds to get there! And there are almost no petites in plus size to choose from. In one large Dept store, they did not have one pair of petite pants in size 16 plus.

And NOW my weight loss has stalled!

Discouraging day to say the least.

I had the same problem when I went shopping. 16's don't quite fit yet so I had to buy 16W. I am also petite and it is so hard to find cute petite plus size clothes. I want out of the damn Woman's department.

I'm in large 16 pants as well and I'm 5' 2" tall... we are really so similar. My restriction is semi there Shortgal but you're right if it weren't for willpower and exercising pretty much every day, I would have put most of my weight back on. I'm hoping my fill next week will get me to the point I want.

Well, just when I thought yesterday was discouraging... this morning I weighed myself and I have lost nothing since last Tues.

I have counted all my calories, tracked all my Protein and stayed under 1200 calories everyday. Yesterday I was under 800 calories!

I have not started exercising yet. I guess that's my next big hurdle.

Whenever I have dieted in the past, this was always the most frustrating part for me.... to diet all week long and lose NOTHING!

I have been putting a lot of my social life on hold, out of fear that since I'm only using willpower, I'll cave in and eat too much. How long can I avoid going places and doing things?

No wonder people get overfilled!

Thanks for listening... I'll go vent to the poor hubby now. I'm sure he can't wait to hear this.

Restriction makes all the difference in the world! I had to force myself to eat some tuna salad last night because I was way short on Protein for the day. And the reason I was short was because I just wasn't hungry all day so I had only had a Slimfast Optima shake (only 10 grams of protein), a Luna bar (11 g) and a Weight Watchers entree (11 g). It was a small can of tuna but about 32 grams of protein! I need to plan better and not be eating at 9 p.m.! But it's hard to eat when you don't feel like it, plus I need to stock up on more protein-rich foods. I'm not supposed to rely too much on Protein shakes. It's time to start using the unjury more. Dang! Why didn't I think of making some Unjury chicken broth?!!

I had a fill Friday to bring me to 7ccs and I've lost 4.5 pounds since then! I never lose like this! Trust that it can go quickly once you get to the right level of restriction for you.

Shortgal, it must be very frustrating but be happy that you haven't gained anything.

Longhorn, I'm glad to hear you're going so well. My next fill should get me to 7cc so I hope the extra .5cc does it for me.

Not so fast Sades... I gained two pounds today! Have no clue why, except I haven't had a good poop in five days! I put 1 tsp of benefiber in every bottle of Water I drink... which is two to three tsps a day. That is half the recommended amount, so I guess I'll have to start upping it.

I can't wait for my next fill (one week from today) and a week ago, I only wanted .5 cc, now I want 1cc.

Seven months to the wedding and only 5 months until I really have to buy my dress. Time is wasting. Dropping a few pounds quickly is just what I need.

Longhorn: Good for you! It must be so wonderful to have that "not hungry" feeling. I still count down the time to my next meal!

But shortgal, we've lost the same amount of weight! So you've clearly had success at times when I was slow or stalling. Just hang in there and you'll probably be zipping past me again in no time!

Yes, I'm happy with my weight lose so far. Just wish it was by restriction instead of by dieting.

At least I know I must be getting close to restriction by now.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I think we are a bit hard on ourselves at times. I know it took me at least 6 months to lose the same weight a couple of years ago, so really this is fantastic weight loss in a short time. I know I could have lost more but geez looking good anyway. I have noticed that I do have some restriction but I don't chew slowly and can down pretty much anything so whatever restriction there is doesn't really stop much. I'm feeling good because all that exercise is really helping my state of mind.

I was banded on Nov. 16th. I have had 4 fills, am at 8.5 cc's and am going for another fill tonight. I still feel the restriction immediately following the fill, then it loosens and I can eat like a horse. BUT I notice after every fill that "eating like a horse" becomes like feeding a smaller and smaller horse. Be patient. It takes time. Be sure to eat Protein first because it fills you faster. DON'T get discouraged. After each fill I lose about 10 pounds in the first week and then gain 7 of it back in the second week before the next fill. You have to look at it as a long term solution. It WILL work. Just try to be patient. I know it's frustrating, but think positive. Imagine how fast the last year went by and think about what it will be like a year from now when you have lost 70 or 80 or even 100 pounds. Let that be your motivation!! :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
