Scared, Nervous.. but so EXCITED

Recommended Posts

Hello Peeps,

I am so glad I found this site. I have used the chat section and it worked wonders for me - though I am anxious for my band procedure, I am also very excited. I have chatted with bansters from all over the country and they were so supportive and have received valuable, wonderul advices from their vast experiences. If you have not been in the chat room, I hope to see you there!

I am getting banded on Feb 27, 2008. I have always been "chubby" and "plump" ever since I could remember. I was active in school and played in team sports but I was always overweight. I am an expert yo-yo dieter. Name me a diet, I have probably done it more than once in my lifetime. Don't get me wrong, I lost weight in these diets but they always came back, and what is worse, they came back with friends!

Now I am 30, I need to take better control of my life and weight since over the years, I am heading in the wrong direction of the scale. I had a recent family member go to the hospital for weight-related conditions, and I definately do not want to be the next one on the list.

Still a bit scared, and a little nervous and counting down the days til my band date. Wish me luck!

I love this site.

Being a bit apprehensive is perfectly normal---I cannot imagine going into any surgery without being!!!

I too have found LBT to be a blessing!!! I have learned and been guided, and supported by an entire group of wonderful people!

We are glad to have you here, and hope all goes well with your surgery and recovery----be sure to come back and share your experience!!

Welcome to the forum!

hello All! I am beginning the lapband process and I am nervous scared, excited and anxious. I have been overweight for almost ten years now and I just can't do it anymore. I want to be able to play softball with my daughter, and not get winded walking up the stairs when going to my son's baseball games and I want to be able to keep up with my 12 year old son when he challenges me.But most of all I want to feel good for me. I want to live life to it's fullest and not be ashamed to go places because I am "fat".

I have my first appointment next month and I would appreciate any advice good or bad that you fellow bandsters can give me.

Good Luck with your journey. I am just starting mine. Seminar this week and then an appt. with my PCP. I wish I had an upcomming surgery date. I am nervous and excited to get to the surgery part. Then I know my life will be hard for a while what with the liquid diet and all but I am convinced from all the reading that I have done that it will be worth it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
