HI, I am new to the forum. I've read several entries and see how well people are progressing. I was banded 6/29/07 and have only lost about 45 pounds. I started exercising this week and hope this helps. Reading all the different experiences people have had helps too.

Exercise will help , have you tracked your food intake on something like sparkpeople.com ? Perhaps your not eating enough , too much ?

I would start with what your eating and how much also exercise !

Good luck

your doing great

Mindy

I was banded 1/3/08 and am completely stalled with my weight loss. I am finding myself falling back into old habits, eating chocolate, etc. I hate that I still CAN do that. I thought the band would make it so I couldn't eat everything, but I have not yet felt full and I am soooo hungry. I lost about 33 pounds so far, because I was so strict with the rules in the beginning, but as I get more leeway, I am doing poorly. I am thinking of moving up to solid foods 2 weeks early so I will feel full. Any thoughts?

You were banded over two months ago and you're not on solid food yet? When does your Dr. say you can have solid food?

You need Protein to stay satisfied, so are you track how much Protein in a day you're consuming? Once you start letting the carbs back in, like chocolate, it will make you crave them all the more.

I would track my daily calories and daily protein and avoid carbs except for green veggies.

March 27 is when he says I can have solid food. Two more weeks. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it before that, though. You are so right about the cravings. I had been keeping track of my protein/calories/liquids so carefully until I began to get frustrated, and then I slipped up. I do exercise quite a bit, but more will help. I have twin 2-year-olds (single mom), so it's really hard to find time. I did this for them, though, so I guess I need to figure something out!

That is a LONG time to wait to get to solid foods. I would consider calling the office and tell them you are hungry and it's causing problems for you. Ask what they suggest.

good luck, it's hard!

I was banded on October 26,2007 and have lost 25 pounds, so am not too far ahead of where you are! I am definitely a slow loser, but I keep asking myself where I would be right now without surgery! I'd have gained, for sure, and at the very least would be the same weight. Anything lost is gravy, to me! I wasn't very good at the weight loss thing before surgery and it is a thrill to me that I have lost what I have!

"only" 45 lbs?! That's fantastic loss. The average is 1-2 lbs per week the first year. If you hit -52 lbs by the end of June you'll be right on target.

I know it seems slow, but you're making great progress, really!

Congratulations!

You are doing great however with looking at the way everyone else is doing I would prob. feel the same way. But it does not seem as if you are eating enough. How do u feel? See I have learned that the protien feeds your muscle so when you workout it allows you to continue to burn fat. So if you are not eating enough u will get to a platu. Have you had any setbacks or anything that would prevent you from eating reg. foods sooner?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
