A lot of people recommend going on liquids the rest of the day after a pb. I always do that if it's a bad one, where it's stuck for a long time before something happens. I know it gets irritated inside there, which sets up the situation to keep pbing.

I haven't pbed in awhile now because I am chewing everything until it's absolutely liquid in my mouth.

ill give it a try.... doctor said this time he going to go tight... lol guess he did ;p

so far i been eatting little more then half of what I used to eat after first fill... like instead of whole salad, I eat about half and sometimes on Soup also :)

I'm glad im atleast in the 230's (high) instead of hovering around 245 for like 3weeks... cant wait to break 230's

LOL My next fill is a week before service school. Where we get free meals all week. lol

I am sure I will be super tight and not be able to participate in the free meals. lol

That is fine with me I just want to get below the 340's

Anyone else have the tightness only in the morning/mid afternoon? I throw up nearly everything I've tried to have before noon since my 2nd fill last Monday. (It's been a week now...) Even the Protein shakes come right back up in the morning and NO, I'm NOT pregnant! I have found that after exercising I feel so much better able to eat. I even got sick on cottage cheese this morning. I haven't gone back to my dr. because I'm usually ok by later in the day and capable of eating a really slow dinner...but that makes for a rough afternoon of trying to get down a lot of Water and some Protein. I'm just so happy to get anything that stays in at this point that nutritionally, I'm a mess. I figure it's a combination of eating too fast, not paying attention, and the band doing its job, so I'm hesitant to request my dr. to unfill. I've also learned to have all liquid from any kind of Soup prior to eating the noodles or rice in it to make sure I keep it down.

As far as stuff getting stuck, I've found that I can down a few ounces of Water to wash whatever is stuck right back out. Gross, but it works...just didn't think I'd go through all of this to pay someone to make me bulimic!!!

It's very common to be really tight in the morning and loosen up later in the day.

I usually make watery oatmeal when I am that way. I thin it way down with skim milk. I can't go to the gym on an empty stomach. I have to eat it really slowly and wait a long time in between bites. I have loosened up quite a bit since my fill in Dec. Not enough that I want to get another one though!

Man! let me tell you bagles are a bad thing. lol

I got stuck on a bagel in the coffee shop. Had to wait in line for the bathroom. Man I thought I was going to puke on someone.

Thank goodness I got in on time.

not fun!

I hate to say it, but I've become far less social. I only eat things I know are safe when I'm out in public and I tend to do a lot of eating at home now. (And, of course, I always know where the bathroom is whenever I'm in a restaurant!)

I'm scheduled for a fill tomorrow, but not sure I want one. I can definitely eat more than a cup of food at one time, but still struggle with getting stuck at least 4-5 times a week. Do you think I should go ahead and get a small fill or keep waiting? My dr. usually does 4 week intervals and I've waited 5 or 6 weeks now.....

I was banded 12-17-07. My first fill was 2 c.c. on 1-29 and then a 2nd fill of 1 c.c. on March 5th... Which I though the nurse missed the port... :rolleyes2: I have been able to eat without too much trouble. Smaller amounts but the weight loss has been very SLOW... And now all of the sudden... it feels TIGHT! :smile2: I took 3 Advil this morning when I woke up for some shoulder pain... I took one with Water and made sure it went down and then did the same with the other two... I guess I didn't wait long enough between pills... I was so sick!!! It was about a 15 minute or so episode with pain and to stop trying to throw up and keep them down or get them back up. This was my first problem like this.

Does anyone else find that it takes awhile after a fill to feel the tightness??? I'm afraid to get another fill too after this... I want to lose weight but I don't want to be miserable either with this slimming... I'm hoping I'm just having an unusually bad day...

Teech, how has your weight loss been with your tightness? I'd be afraid to have another feel too... :confused2:

I'm not necessarily feeling much restriction---strange, I know. Maybe I do have it and don't recognize it as such. I can comfortably eat meals. I had yogurt this afternoon with a Weight Watchers Quesidilla (sp?) and had no issues. I have been really careful to watch the Water with and after meals and have found that makes a HUGE difference. I have been watching my Protein intake and not calories as much and have also found that makes a bid difference. Some days are great, others not so great. I think the days when I eat more fiberous veggies are tough. (go figure, huh?) I think I'm going to go ahead and ask for a small fill.

I have to admit, though...aside from the very first fill (with a great PA) I don't know what they've put in my band. The second fill was my dr. himself and he didn't say much. So...fill #3 tomorrow. Not looking for discomfort as it's my birthday next week and I don't want to be in pain or running for an unfill...but we'll see.

Have a great week. :rolleyes2:

I know that my dr discurages liquid meals. He says yougart is a liquid meal. and it goes thru the band too easily. So we are told to eat more solid meals.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
