Returning to work-Question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm still in the beginning of getting my approval but of course for work they need to know about when I'm going to take time off. I was wondering how long after the lapband surgery were you back at work? I know that it can vary but just wondering my job is a sit down job no heavy lifting or anything like that.

Thank you

I work in an office. No lifting whatsoever...mostly sit down. Because of the position sitting down-I have choosen to take 2 weeks off. I will take Short term disability benefits.

Because of traffic here I will have to sit for extended periods of time between that and at the office and I would be at a high risk of blood clots.

I work from home so it's a little differant. It took me about a week to really start to feel like myself. I was fortunate enough not to have alot of pain, it was more exhaustion then anything. I would say it really depends on what you do for work. If you can take a week off then I would.

This is such an exciting time!!! Good luck!!!

Jenn

I took off 6 days before I returned to the office. I do all my work on the computer, so a sit-down office job. I wasn't feeling so well on the 6th when I went in, so I worked an addtl 2 days after that from home.

I had surgery Friday, Jan. 25, took off the next Monday and Tuesday. I went back to work on Wednesday, Jan. 30. I have a desk job and have had no problems and I am feeling great!! Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
