I am home.

Recommended Posts

I was banded Monday morning and i had to stay the night in the hospital. Came home about noon on tuesday and went straight to bed. Never can sleep in the hospital. My doctor requires all his lapband patients to stay. I could leave anytime I wanted the next morning.

The only pain I had was the gas pain in my left shoulder and the stomach seemed bloated. I was able to keep liquids down without a problem, but not much of it. I was walking as soon as I could get awaken. I was walking at 330 am too. Right now, 2 days post, I still have gas that I am able to pass more and more. I am on a full liquid till I see Dr on Monday. I was able to sleep on my back in the bed for the start, that was good. It actually helps with the gas while laying down. I was telling the wife yesterday with the uncomfortness "what have I done, why did I do this". But I know why!! I am going to wait a few more days to get on the scales.

Hope the other 28thers are doing well.

PJ

Good to hear you are doing well. I too was banded on Monday. Doing about the same as you. Except my belly is very sore. It's getting a little better as time goes by. How are you doing with the liquid diet?

It gets better each day. It was Day 3 and 4 that I really felt a bit more normal and the gas really subsided. I still have pain at the port site, but have been able to sleep on my side. Not a good back sleeper. It is Day 6 and I am starting my walks about 3/4 mile. But, the first 3 or 4 days are shakey! Hang in there and take it easy. Trust your body.....it is healing! Glad you are all doing this well.

PeachesPJ, I want to offer a word of encouragement. I was banded just over a week ago on 01/24/2008. My procedure was done on an outpatient basis. I was in recovery about 4 hours before going home.

That first night, like you, I questioned my decision to have the procedure. I thought I had made a huge mistake. Of course, that question comes about because of the pain felt post-op.

Let me just tell you, one week post-op, I am feeling like a million bucks! I had a couple of uncomfortable days due to the gas, but I chewed antacids and took my pain medicine, as prescribed. With this combination, I started to feel like myself by day 2 or 3.

We have made the best decisions for our health and our future by getting this procedure.

Get better, and remember that your pain will subside soon enough.

Peaches and all - My story is identical. Banded on 1/14 with pain and gas for 2 or 3 days after. Pain meds and Gas-X really helped. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and feel like a million. Walking my dog briskly for 30 minutes a day. Hang in!

Glad to hear you are doing okay. Please don't freak out if you get on the scale and haven't lost anything. Remember that this time is for healing keep up your fluids, Vitamins and Protein. We can't heal without protein. I know its hard but don't focus too much on the scale right now. Worry about the scale after you get your first fill. Good luck

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
