observing subtle changes...

Recommended Posts

I've only lost 30 pounds so far and have a long way to go, but I'm beginning to notice some small things, that I didn't realize would make such a difference.

1. When I stand with my arms relaxed at my sides, my hands now touch my upper thigh. Before, the fat under my arms and my sides got in the way and my arms hung out at an angle.

2. My double chin has gone down enough for me to wear a necklace I haven't worn in 6 years.

3. I don't grunt when I lean over to tie my shoes.

4. I can shave my underarm COMPLETELY. The excessive fat used to cause a fold that I couldn't get to with a razor. I can also easily shave my legs. It used to be a strain and uncomfortable.

5. My hands and feet don't swell anymore.

6. My snoring is improving. I don't wake myself up snorting anymore. I'm also sleeping better.

7. My energy level has increased 10 fold.

8. I can "participate" in sex, instead of just laying there exhausted.:tt1::biggrin2:

this truly is amazing. these are benefits I didn't expect at this stage of the game. I'm delighted.

Those are all wonderful! Isn't it great how there are so many victories that are not just a number on the scale! :tt1:

Here's mine:

1. I'm walking much better and using my cane less frequently

2. I can bend over to pick things up off the floor

3. My stomach isn't right on the steering wheel, and my seatbelt has more give

4. I've lost 25.5 (!) inches off my measurements compared to pre-banding

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
