What the H does DH stand for?

Yep! Stands for "Dear Husband" or "Darling Husband"

For me it stands for Dear Hubby/Husband, Darling Hubby/Husband, Damned Hubby/Husband, Dipshit Hubby/Husband, Dufus Hubby/Husband, Doggone Hubby/Husband, etc...

In the FAQs and References forum, you will find a sticky that includes various abbreviations, it is VERY helpful!

It took me awhile to figure it out too - lol! This is the first forum I've ever seen use those abbreviations. Are they common?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Most I’m on seem to use SO for significant other. DH and DW leave out a lot of people. What about those of us in a relationship but not married and/or gay/lesbian couples?

Most sites I use have DH/DW/SO. SO can mean a same-sex partner, or it can just mean a significant other, e.g. a boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancee, etc. It's not like anyone has been intentionally excluded from the world wide web abbreviations list. :wink2:

I've seen and used SO on this site before but I prefer to use DH when referring to my own husband. I have nothing wrong with being politically correct and all-inclusive to others and I have no wish to offend anyone by the use of DH, but I just don't see the need to extend political correctness to the point that I can't refer to my own husband as a husband and have to call him my SO just in case it my offend someone else.

I'm not offended! I doubt anyone else is either. I was just curious.

I'd never seen the DH, DW, etc thing before this forum and I've been on a lot of forums over the years.

I never know what to use for my boyfriend. If he'd just marry me it would make it so much easier :wink2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
