Starting Atkins induction Diet Anyone want to join me????

Recommended Posts

I was just fixing to post that I had tuna for Breakfast and tuna for lunch. All I put in it was mayo and green onion. Sounds like I need some variety. Then here you are with my variety. You are too good. That really sounds yummy. I will have to try it. I really like tuna and it is such a good way to get in enough Protein. Thanks for the recipe.

I started a Atkins type diet last weekend but I'm not really doing the induction phase. I'm still trying to pick leaner cuts of Protein but if I want cheese, I eat it or if I want mayo, I use it. I am anxious to see my weight on Tuesday since I officially weigh in every Tuesday morning. Even eating all the fat I want, I still can't get in many calories

Jan 21st 666 calories, 40 g fat, 14 g carbs, 62 g Protein

Jan 22nd 978 calories, 50 g fat, 6 g carbs, 119 g protein

Jan 23rd 782 calories, 36 g fat, 15 g carbs, 95 g protein

Jan 24th 740 calories, 42 g fat, 15 g carbs, 76 g protein

This is the 2nd morning that my scales have not moved. ARGH!!!! I really thought I would start losing faster by now. It is nowhere near TOM. I have not been exercising because of sick kids. I have The Biggest Loser exercise DVD's and they are really good. I really should get them out and use them. Maybe that is the missing link. I usually don't have trouble losing when following diet alone. I have followed this diet to a tee. Maybe it will start showing tomorrow. I probably need to stay off the scales for a day or 2.

How is everyone else doing.

That is great Losing. Surely I will start to drop again soon. Low carb has always worked really well for me, too. I have not been counting calories or carbs, or Protein, or fat. I have just been making sure I stay within the approved foods. I think I will count today and just see where I am at. However, I don't think I am going over in any catagorie.

Here is what I had yesterday

B - 1/2c tuna (tuna, mayo, egg, green onion)

L - 1/2c tuna

D - 1c taco salad (taco meat, refried Beans, lettuce, Tomato, cheese, sour cream)

S - Caramel Machiato from Hastings (made with sf Syrup and sf whipped cream)

I have not been driniking all of my Water. I will also make sure I do that today.

What tool do yall use to count your calories, carbs, Protein, etc????

i am being VERY strict in counting carbs. under 20 total (not net) a day. i use My food Diary :: Online Calorie Counter w/ Diet Journal & Exercise Log to count and love it. but there is a fee for it.

sparkpeople and fitday work as well.

you may want to check the counts ... even sugar free, if a coffee is made with primarily milk, thats quite a few carbs there. just a thought.

I use TheDailyPlate to track my intake, exercise etc...

Had another off day yesterday ... upchucked my lunch :) Been on the go quite a bit the past couple days, today I finally get a break and hope to be able to keep food down. Good thing is my scale has moved in the right direction! I am down 4+ lbs since Saturday and officially halfway to my goal! :)

Glad to see ya'll are doing well!

By the way ... I am soooo addicted to these Atkins Advantage shakes!

I'm only down a pound, but it's my TOM, so hopefully that's why I haven't lost more. I really didn't technically start until Wednesday. I really haven't been counting the carbs either, just sticking to the food on the list.

Here's what I had yesterday:

B- low carb slim fast

L- cheesy tuna

D- 1 crab cake- 7 carbs (not sure if I should have had it, but the carbs weren't too bad)

S- 1 crab meat snack stick

Pamela,

I am eating the cheesy tuna as I type and it is very yummy. I am going to count carbs today. I think I will go back and count the rest of the week if I have time. I will be really suprised if I have not stayed within what is allowed. I know this diet works for me. I must not have gone into ketosis yet. I am not losing heart!!

If my count is correct, 1/2 of the cheesy tuna is 100cal, 1.75 fat, 2 carbs, and 19.5 Protein. I am waiting till payday to buy groceries, so that is made with whole milk, ff sour cream, and ff cheese. I know Atkins doesn't reccomend ff but that is what I have. Hope that helps.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
