Being banded 1/25, need list.

Recommended Posts

Quick!!!! I'm being banded on the 25th and I need the list for stuff to buy and bring before I get banded. I just went this morning to Dr. Spivak's seminar and surprisingly got scheduled for surgery this friday. I thought I'd have more time to get everything ready. I really am soooo excited I can hardly type fast enough. I'd appreciate any advice for this soon to be newbie bandster.

Thanks,

Alice

Hi Alice!

Congratulations on a quick surgery date. I too had very little time to prepare!

The things that mattered to me in hospital (I stayed overnight), where

1. Lipbalm - your lips get really dry when you are fasting and it made me feel more human.

2. Some facial moist wipes - it was very refreshing after surgery to wash your face in bed.

3. my little cushion that i held over my tummy when I coughed and for the ride home.

4. Some loose pants to wear home - I was really bloated and my usual pants did not fit.

As for being at home and my full liquid diet - Optifast, Soup, bananas for shakes, V8 juice. Some tablets for gas - very important!

Take deep breaths when you wake up from surgery it will help you to get the medicine out of your lungs and body quicker!

Walk - walk - walk. I would get up and walk every hour for 10 min's. Even when I woke up during the night.

Ask for ice chips if you are thirsty. I even took a cup for the ride home.

I would suggest having someone around to help you for the first few days home.

Hugs and Best Wishes!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
