Had Lap Band 2 days Ago

Recommended Posts

I had my band puy in two days ago. How much should I be drinking? It seems I can only drink a little at a time. Also, I have a lot of pain in shoulders, arms and neck. Is that from positioning during surgery. What works for bloating? Also, I am spitting up a little after I drink my Protein is that normal? Let me know Thanks.

HI, congrats on your band! I just got back from my seminar and the Dr. said pain in the shoulders and neck is VERY normal and basically will alsways occur. I think he said it's from the air they pump you up with during the surgery (I think).

Best of luck in your journey and your so lucky your surgery is over.

I think that any spitting up immediately post op is bad-they don't want you to tear your stitches. My doc prescribed me anti-nausea meds to prevent it. So I would call ASAP (even on the weekend) and let your doc know about the spitting up.

Hi! Congrats - I am day 5 post op. The bloating is from the carbon dioxide gas they pump into your abdomen during surgery so they have room to move - left over gas after surgery can cause shoulder, neck, back and chest pain but usually always happens. It will dissipate back into your blood over the days after surgery and the bloating will go away.

I'd be concerned about spit up and contact your surgeon for some anti-nausea meds - the band can move when this happens and slips.

Good luck,

Jen

Speaking of spitting up, anyone have any information about "throwing up." Like when you have the flu, or sea sick... Does the band make it more difficult to toss the contents of the stomach....?

Congrats!!!!!

I was banded on Tuesday. Have allot of pain from my insicions, some gas, walking helped relieve that, But no spitting up. Are you measuring your amount of Fluid? I have been told 1/4 cup over a 40 min period so I have a 1/2 cup and measure what I am intaking. Since i'm on pain meds, I started a journal and mark the time, and amount that anything is going into my mouth. I have to keep asking my kids what day it is and what time it is.

There is a sticky thread that reviews what you should be eating. If your surgeon didn't give you a guide line, please email me at ladytuscanny@yahoo.com and I will be glad to send you the information that my surgeon gave me.

I went to a seminar today and the booklet I was given stated that left shoulder pain is caused from irritation of the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen cavity. Pain should subside in a few days or less intense as the weeks go by.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
